@terushow Companies like blizzard are very much the same, if it doesnt make them money they arent interested, the difference is western players “pirate” and make their own servers of their games because a multi billion dollar company with such anti player philosophy doesnt deserve their £

@terushow I think you would be very unfortunately surprised how little autonomy the actual developing studios have in these decisions, but maybe im just going off of how it works in the west

@terushow I wish that were the case here in the west but specifically in America, many states have written law called "at will employment" that means the employer can fire an employee for ANY reason with zero repercussions! Its awful and very much abused

@terushow Maybe its unclear but (atleast in regards to me) I am not hating on the individual employees who went into the creation of a game/product. Because I know they arent the ones making decisions to pull access to those products

@terushow I think (purely my opinion) that a decision made purely to increase profits, even if its stupid/incompetent, that negatively impacts the company/individuals is atleast somewhat evil in nature. But thats very philosophical and not something i think most would agree on

@terushow Again there needs to be nuance, there is no definitive line it has to be a case by case basis. Maybe its my ignorance but from what I've seen of Japanese people engaging in these arguments is they want that definition and dont like the answer that it is more complex than that

@terushow I'll agree with not conflating stupidity with malice but you would need to be blind not to consider some of the decisions of these big companies as evil, look at companies like Blizzard who saw record breaking profits in recent years but chose to fire 100s of employees thats evil

@terushow Thats dangerous though because the rights of an individual are vastly different to a big company like Square Enix and if people cant see that then there isnt much helping them

@terushow I see your point but I think given the current situation it is irrelevant because no one is advocating to pirate indie games, theyre (to quote my OP) arguing to hold the big publishers accountable as this is a somewhat common issue.

@terushow You're incapable of engaging in a good faith argument because you cant differentiate between the law and morality, you have zero nuance so the only thing you can fixate on is the "crime" as opposed to actually looking at why that is even an aspect of it.
