@ValtoryDev First time I saw someone poke the beehive with this point. Generally debates about this don't even have the chance to get there before some side rant. And honestly, I don't think most ppl care, even if you do a small stickman, as long they can infer "kid" it's enough.

@oXYqJxKWcP3Hn74 @Lucas_Azedi 2/2 Now about piracy, there is a lot of pros/cons arguments that indeed people are telling the truth, but the "real market" perspective is a bit more complex here, I will not be able to fit in one answer, but it's truth that most BRs don't mean any harm when doing that.

@oXYqJxKWcP3Hn74 @Lucas_Azedi 1/2 I am Brazilian, he's saying "art should be accessible to everyone, independent how they get". And I gonna be blunt, "culture" on brazil is a "very convenient word", ppl use here to anything, even extremely bad things that many fell ashamed of saying is from here.

@LotteWeiss1 @MizutamariVT Do you understand that the logic you are supporting here will allow to ban the games you like? You will not be able to say "don't play if you don't like", because you just nullified this argument now, by saying that what matters is popular approval, and not individual agreement.

One of the interesting arguments the JP side has had against Stop Killing Games is that to make an offline version or would cost 50% to 100% more of the games original budget to do it. I'm not sure if this is just a blatant lie, genuine incompetence or total ignorance. We have guys with no access to the source code able to reverse engineer servers with, relatively speaking, minimal effort. If Joe Everyman can do it for 0 dollars in his basement without the nessecary information, how come companies that actually have that information apparently can't do?

@8ulAlex @ZeusArcade Ironically I never liked him. But that doesn't mean his arguments are wrong, still, I am defending my ow ideas, not his. Other thing, his an hypocrite on this one topic, because he praised a lot of CN intervention on games, now that one can affect him he don't like.

@LotteWeiss1 @MizutamariVT So if later the gov enforce you to sell a product you made, enforcing conditions you don't agree, would you be fine with that? And remember, this is using state intervention to have entertainment, so if later someone use on you, all they need is a excuse on the same level.

@tanoshimu_time Let me put this just a disclaimer: I was talking about the SKG consequences if it becomes a law (in any place), and not about existent US laws. So this is not in practice yet, so sorry if caused some misunderstanding. And caution with X translations too, it's bit weird sometimes.

Jorge@JorgeSakar

@Kirshi912 @gamespark There is a lot, for me the worst is that interfere in free-market and property. It literally takes away the owners choice of how comercialize their own product, basically it creates the precedent of "if ppl want your product to be sold this way now you are forced to do it".

@JorgeSakar @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech I know well enough. But we're talking in reference to the law as a concept, which is what you brought up originally. Exactly. that's why these Japanese companies can either deal with how business and law works in America, or they can choose not to play ball in America.

@Desickkcised @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech Or more directly, I made a game, I want to sell with these conditions, you didn't agree? Then no deal, you can't accept my deal and expect to demand other things later. And my game is not a necessity, is entertainment, so you have no moral justification to impose terms on me.

@JorgeSakar @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech Way to intentionally miss my point. And yes. That is actually how it works. Refer to the FCC and swearing on public airwaves. I can't pay someone to swear in public airwaves, which is us putting a condition on the radio host. It's always been part of American Law.

@Desickkcised @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech Cursing is lack of etiquete, it has nothing to do with terms or contracts. The situation is literally going to the dancer and saying "you gonna dance just the song I want, and not anything else, even if others want to pay you for that". You are imposing conditions on others deals

@JorgeSakar @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech The law is full of personal interests. It's why certain things are banned. This is nothing like your dancer example. This is more of asking a dancer to make sure they don't swear at their audience, since we're asking developers to not screw over gamers.

@Desickkcised @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech It's sad, but it's their right, is like saying you are good dancer but I can't see because you charge too much, so what? Now I should have the right to force you to dance for me? So yes, I mean their wallet, law is a neutral power to comprehend principles, not personal interest.

@JorgeSakar @AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech Isn't that literally using their own power? If people band together to force lawmakers to make laws that give them what they want, thats using their own powers. Unless you mean "vote with your wallet", it's cruel to fans to have to miss out on content because devs are greedy

@MizutamariVT Back in the dark ages of the 1990s and 2000s every online game had LAN play and player-hosted servers. Eventually corpos realized always online and killing games is more profitable. Not sure why people pretend this is some impossible, unreasonable thing.

@AonekoSS @dokugaku_tech That's exactly their point. They don't like service model, but at the same time they keep consuming, and instead of using their own power to make demands, they want to enforce by law to get what they want, hoping this will benefit them, same with gacha and etc. It's a virtue mask

@AonekoSS @Dyxankw It's not the time, their community mostly never read the thing, just heard about "intentions" without considering consequences. In general SKG would do exactly what you guys understood, including live services games, it force them to "give the server, or make an offline version".
