Mucha gente cree que EE.UU. no debería involucrarse en guerras y que al hacerlo se rebaja al nivel de sus adversarios. Lo que no entienden es que sin EE.UU. involucrándose en guerras y a veces actuando como policía mundial (muchas veces con excesos) el mundo Occidental moderno que conocemos - en gran medida moldeado por EE.UU. - no existiría, o dejaría de existir. Critican airadamente a EE.UU. - mientras aman ir de compras a New York y a Miami o visitar Las Vegas - y dicen "no, cómo puede ser que EE.UU. quiera impedir a otros países tener bombas atómicas, si ellos mismos tiraron 2", pero no entienden que gracias a eso el mundo es como es hoy. Es gracias a EE.UU. que la civilización Occidental -en la que tanto nos gusta vivir- tiene una chance de subsistir entre toda la barbarie del mundo. Todo tiene un precio, y hay que decidirse. Yo prefiero toda la vida vivir en un mundo donde, con todos sus defectos, EE.UU. es la superpotencia económica y militar dominante, y duermo un poco más tranquilo sabiendo que países como Irán no tienen bombas atómicas. No es lo mismo quién las tiene y quién no. No hay que hacerse los moralistas, porque todos sabemos bien que no tenemos que temer que EE.UU. nos bombardee o cometa atentados en nuestros países como se le dé la gana, y sí sabemos (los argentinos lo sabemos por experiencia propia) que Irán hace exactamente eso, sin el menor respeto por la vida humana. Esa gente no comparte nuestros valores. Está clarísimo quiénes son los buenos y quiénes son los malos. Y con una mano en el corazón, todos tenemos clarísimo en cuál (o como cuál) de esos dos países nos gustaría vivir más.
