⚡️This is surrender language wearing dignity makeup. That is what’s really going on. When a regime starts telling the enemy population that it is misunderstood, never wanted aggression, only acted in self-defense, and the other side is really fighting for someone else, it is trying to change the emotional frame because the hard-power frame has turned against it. This is not the language of a side that thinks it is winning the field. This is the language of a side trying to salvage narrative space before it loses more material space. The “proxy for Israel” line is especially revealing. It is an attempt to break the U.S. side psychologically by saying: this is not your war, you are bleeding for someone else, you can step away and still feel morally clean. That is targeted exit messaging. It is designed to widen the political door for de-escalation on the American side while preserving some ideological dignity on the Iranian side. The “measured self-defense” line is also telling. Nobody says that unless they know the scale balance looks bad. It is an effort to downgrade perception of threat at the exact moment they need the other side to stop escalating. Same with “never pursued aggression.” That is not a convincing historical claim. It is a negotiation signal disguised as moral testimony. So what is really going on? Iran is trying to reclassify itself from active threat to wounded but reasonable state actor. It wants to move the argument from missiles, proxies, Hormuz, and nuclear risk into misunderstanding, history, dignity, and mutual engagement. That shift only happens when the previous terrain became too costly. This does not mean the regime has become honest. It means it has become pressured. And that is the core truth here. People get distracted arguing whether the claims are hypocritical or false. Of course much of it is self-serving. That is the surface level. The deeper level is that propaganda itself has changed form. Earlier the posture was defiance, endurance, revenge, resistance. Now the posture is misunderstood nation, measured response, unnecessary confrontation, choose engagement. That transition is the signal. Bottom line. : This is not strength rhetoric. This is not victory rhetoric. This is narrative repositioning under pressure. It is Tehran trying to make stopping feel possible without openly admitting retreat. The deepest truth is simple: They are trying to survive the landing.
