It is my pleasure to present this paper to the 2D community on which I had the opportunity to contribute. It is an amazing work which was carried out by Honey Boban arxiv.org/abs/2410.19652

The mechanical assembly of heterostructures is known to be a relatively dirty technique. It requires the use of polymers which tend to contaminate everything they touch...

In this paper we offer a solution. We can pick up flakes and assemble heterostructures in a way that one side doesn't see any polymer at all and we can demonstrate that they are ultra clean!

But what if you work in the field of surface science? Wouldn't it be great to find a way to assemble heterostructures on which the surface is a sensitive material?

This is not extremely problematic if one for instance does transport. You can always encapsulate your materials with h-BN and contact it with graphene whiskers.

Grateful to receive from @ERC_Research an ERC Starting Grant #ERCStG. We will move our single atom coherent control from scanning tunneling to atomic force microscopy! Openings for graduate students and postdocs throughout the next five years - in particular with AFM experience!

@semontis @SubhashishB19 I tried to get into it, it’s wonderful but also a very complicated program with a very steep learning curve. I realised I would need three months to do something useful and let it go :/

Where are these beautiful pictures often seen in high impact journals drawn? especially for cool #quantum physics experiments involving optical and microwave circuits? I know of Inkscape, any other suggestion? Thanks in advance. #AcademicChatter #PhDchat #QuantumMechanics
