@Andres_2DMat @mreyescalvo @icmm_csic @2d_foundry @UA_Universidad and I noticed that when unclamped they tend to wrinkle. I was also wondering how you could distinguish wrinkling vs proper strain transfer since the two substrates have differen adhesion to the flake.

The mechanical assembly of heterostructures is known to be a relatively dirty technique. It requires the use of polymers which tend to contaminate everything they touch...

In this paper we offer a solution. We can pick up flakes and assemble heterostructures in a way that one side doesn't see any polymer at all and we can demonstrate that they are ultra clean!

But what if you work in the field of surface science? Wouldn't it be great to find a way to assemble heterostructures on which the surface is a sensitive material?

This is not extremely problematic if one for instance does transport. You can always encapsulate your materials with h-BN and contact it with graphene whiskers.
