@abe_asfaw My entire first year of PhD I just got used to the cleanroom environment, tools and holding small chips stably with a pair of tweezers. Now jumping to creating recipes and can relate with every word you have mentioned. Thanks for the tweet.

1/3 During PhD, it usually took me 5-10 attempts over many months at making a novel device in the cleanroom before getting it to work as intended/desired. Once I converged on the right architecture for the device and learned the nanofab steps for doing so, it takes a day or two

Yet another milestone for Quantum Computing 🎉
Christian Weedbrook@_cweedbrook

A big new quantum hardware announcement today from the awesome @XanaduAi team! 1. Introducing our new quantum computer called Aurora! This is the first time a quantum computer has been built that is modular, networked and truly scalable Aurora is peer reviewed in @nature and released online today (nature.com/articles/s4158…) It is the very first time anyone has combined all the subsystems necessary to implement universal and fault-tolerant quantum computation in a photonic architecture

Earlier this year, at post conference drinks in a bar, a Googler let slip that “everyone is working flat out on a rather special QEC experiment” but shared no more! And so, I’ve been eagerly awaiting a mysterious paper until today! arxiv.org/pdf/2408.13687

@iitbombay We should leverage on such cryogenics expertise to build technology, for example quantum technology: from superconducting processors to detectors. More importantly, start cryolabs to train students.

Time flies. I cannot sense that I am even a bit less excited about quantum physics than at the time of the first arXiv submission. And still some of the framework conditions do change - I have to get up early, e.g., to have time for solid thinking. Google Scholar surprises me with over 40.000 citations to date. Warm thanks to a wonderful team and for the countless exciting and stimulating discussions. And thanks, needless to say, to our generous funders.

Today, we put a çat qubit on the cloud. It means at anyone in the world can play with it and see its amazing bit flip scaling. My parents will finally understand what I do! (after they learn Qiskit)
Alice & Bob@Alice__Bob

Today, we introduce Boson 4... 🔥 ... a cat qubit chip with a maximum bit-flip time of over 7 minutes - the world record for superconducting qubits. 🏆 But please, don’t take our word for it. 🔗Find out more and try it out: bit.ly/boson4 #catqubit #quantumcomputing

Why was the quantum physicist so poor at relationships? Because whenever he found the momentum, he could never locate the position! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I wonder what is left if you subtract cavities/resonators from quantum computing hardware 😂
