I have listened to Sir Olly Robbins evidence for last hour and forty minutes and am seeing the very best of the civil service. I am left incredulous that the decision was made to fire him. Has there been a more egregious and shameful decision by a political master desperate to save his own skin?

The evidence from Olly Robbins is devastating to Keir Starmer.
It is clear that No10 not only made the appointment before vetting was completed, but that Mandelson was already acting as the Ambassador before the vetting - even seeing highly classified documents.
With this, and the 'constant pressure' No10 applied to the appointment and their 'dismissive attitude' to vetting Mandelson, it is now absolutely clear that 'full due process' was not followed.
Keir Starmer has misled the House.

The idea that you can fail vetting (Peter Mandelson) and yet STILL be given one the highest clearances to official state secrets is a scandal of epic proportions.
This is far worse than Boris Johnson wolfing a slice of cake in Number 10.

Peter Mandelson was offered a classified 'high tiers' briefing on 6th January.
Olly Robbins didn't become FCDO Perm Sec until 8th January.
Robbins got the sack for implementing something that was already a fait accompli when he arrived in the job.

🚨The email from Dec 23 says that Mandelson was offered the briefing on 6 January, in the same email that talks about going through the vetting process. This second email on 30 January suggests developed vetting was confirmed on 29 January.

Wow. So not only was ‘due process’ NOT followed as the Prime Minister stated in Parliament, but he deliberately ignored his own cabinet secretary’s advice to have Mandelson security cleared before announcing.
Starmer lied. He has to go.

🔥NEW - buried in the bundle of documents from the Humble Address Keir Starmer was advised by the cabinet secretary Simon Case to do security clearance BEFORE appointment but ignored the suggestion. Case said (If you want a political appointment) "you should give us the name of the person you would like to appoint and we will develop a plan for them to acquire the necessary security clearances and do due diligence on any potential Conflicts of Interest or other issues of which you should be aware *before* confirming you choice" Which feels quite material .....

He’s at best been recklessly negligent, and at worst completely dishonest. It's time for the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
