Let me help you here Mark: As The Hangover put it, “we messed up.” And like Moneyball reminds us, “adapt or die.” Or simpliar terms, we didn’t know what we were doing then, and still don’t. This video is complete nonsense. It tries to downplay the reality that poor decisions in the past are now catching up with us. Instead of taking responsibility, it’s just more excuses. Yes, office space at the high end is doing well, but that’s only a small part of the overall market. Mid- and lower-tier spaces are still struggling. The rent increases we’re seeing are largely driven by AI companies expanding their footprint in NYC, not because the overall market is strong. It feels like there’s a lack of understanding about how these policies actually impact people. White-collar workers are struggling to find jobs for two main reasons: the rise of AI and the fact that many companies have left.

Job growth has come to a halt in NYC. This is the backdrop we have to keep in mind as we work towards a balanced budget for the city.

It might be the constant push to raise the minimum wage for unskilled workers to $30 an hour. Or maybe it’s the high energy costs. Or the pricing pressures across the industry. Or the ongoing sense that businesses are being squeezed from every direction. At some point, people need to understand how economics actually works. I would hire more employees if I could, but at these rates it’s simply not sustainable. Businesses can only support so many workers before profits disappear or margins become too small to survive. And if prices go up to compensate, customers stop spending.

@bradlander @danielsgoldman You’re calling for accountability in Washington, but NYC is staring at a roughly $12B budget gap after years of your oversight. Is opposing Trump your whole strategy, or do you actually have a position on Iran… or do you have any other platform other than Trump.

We don’t want billions of our taxpayer dollars spent blowing up the Middle East. It's the job of Congress to keep Trump in check and quickly draw this war to a close. But where is @danielsgoldman? NY-10 deserves an anti-war congressmember.

It’s the billionaire class vs. everybody. Proud to have joined hundreds of New Yorkers yesterday to demand Gov. Hochul defend immigrants, workers, and the planet. Taxing the rich is a moral imperative at a time of political & climate crises. It’s time they pay what they owe!

MTA Station agents open service gates for people with disabilities, help families and seniors navigate the station, respond to emergencies, and ensure stations run safely. Reducing the number of station agents not only hits hardworking union members, it also makes our transit system less accessible for the people who need it most. I stand with @TWULocal100 and @CID_NY in their fight to hold the MTA accountable and keep booth workers in our stations!

@kvvnrggn @ycinnewyork The reality is setting in: Encampment sweeps Budget issues Hostility constantly People are stressed and annoyed, but anything to vote blue and hate red. I thought we were brought up to be free thinkers, but we still band wagon along.

@JosephFoley @ycinnewyork It sounds good? Even though it completely ignores that, for example, the top 5% already pay 50% of the income tax. And in a city that — before Mamdani or even De Blasio came along — is extremely generous with social services.

Do ppl understand that getting a downgrade in credit rating will make it more expensive for NYC to borrow money for capital projects like building schools? Mamdani is making affordability worse, on purpose, by proposing bad policies.
Chris Sommerfeldt@C_Sommerfeldt

It isn't just Moody's: A second major credit rater, S&P, is also warning it may adjust NYC's fiscal outlook, potentially posing a serious issue for Mamdani's administration. w/ @joeanuta politico.com/newsletters/ne…

@kvvnrggn @ycinnewyork I’m trying to understand “Tax the Rich.” The people I know that are in the 8-9 figure wealth are not residents here nor are their companies. It is extremely perplexing to watch.

@JosephFoley @ycinnewyork I agree. They seem completely clueless, motivated entirely by ideological positions. They ignore empirical realities at every turn. This includes their workers vs billionaires rhetoric. NYC was extremely generous with social services before 2025. Billionaires were not stingy.

@JosephFoley @dwaldenwrites Yes. I am not in the habit of taking random photos when I’m on the subway so I looked one up. I love that you thought this was some kind of a win though 🤣

Most children in New York City ride the subway and bus to school every day. It is extremely safe; indeed, New Yorkers are extremely protective of children on public transit and will usually intervene very quickly if an adult is harassing them.
CSPAN@cspan

.@SecDuffy: "I'm a Republican, and I love transit…You should be able to have your 14-year-old daughter get on a metro train in New York City at 7 o'clock at night and feel safe. And there's no way in hell I would ever put my daughter on the MTA in New York."

@WorkingFamilies We know… and most people do, the issue is you don’t want to pay for anything or work at all. It is a big difference.

@JosephFoley @dwaldenwrites Your previous tweet says you’re full of it. A solid half of subway stops don’t have a wall to back up against and on the train that’s sure not possible. Solid conservative talking point though.

So how much do you pay these people to show up? Because from the outside it looks like a lot of people who either don’t work or don’t want to work. I’m honestly confused … how can that many people just take to the streets like that? Maybe instead of complaining, that same energy could be put into improving your own situation so you never have to worry about money again.

Says the guy living in Tulsa… Yes it has become safer, but it isn’t extremely safe, pretty strong word there to be frank. Further, if take the subway, everyone is constantly back to the walls and heads on a swivel. Nothing is going to be flawless, but we do have issues and weirdos on the train. It can be better.

There should be paths to homeownership, not another hurdle. You want rent to go down, you need people to be able to purchase homes. It’s ridiculous at this point on how people think.
