@VancouverSun @DouglasTodd Three indigenous bands are going after the Heppell Farm in Surrey BC. Ty Heppell is a fifth generation farmer and within the year they may no longer have their farm if this land claim goes through. One of the bands claiming is in the US. youtu.be/7Tj2h8IXWGc?si…

Really ugly buildings snuggled up against the Burrard Street Bridge in an already very high density population and ohhhhh the traffic! The balconies have no overhangs above them, and the buildings themselves are all glass. Floor to ceiling glass buildings more often than not, leak. And btw, 1/2 of 1.5billion was loaned to the band out of the Ontario pension fund.

The Green electoral model depends on three overlapping demographics, which I would crudely summarise as: young graduates, Muslim voters angry about Gaza, and Remainers in high-density urban areas. These demographics cluster in roughly 30–50 seats in England and Wales. In the other 550+ seats, the math ain’t mathing. The Greens will drag down or even push past Labour but can’t pull enough to win 89 post-industrial Northern England seats where Reform came second to Labour in 2024. Or the formerly Conservative strongholds of suburban and rural England, where Reform is now at the very least second.

Trip hop has aged incredibly well. Portishead, Tricky and Massive Attack sound great today. Name any other niche time specific genre that doesn't sound embarrassing and clunky 20 or 30 years after its heyday.

@Wut_the_Hecht I’ve been nebulously “restricted” lately and so has Mosab, so any help with reach is super welcome. Congratulations on the new job!

So I might be misreading the case, I’m just an idiot on the Internet, but it seems like my local council are blocking the construction of a new housing estate because they think the land (a former golf course) may be bought by ‘a lifestyle purchaser’ to run at a loss one day.

So frustrating to have nods and agreement right through “Hezbollah are the only thing stopping Israel taking south Lebanon” to “but they’re nutters, they want to blow themselves up” FFS. An army in which nobody will risk death will not last long

Similarly I have talked through a boomer from first principles about armed resistance in the levant, at each step getting him to agree the history, how we’d feel if it was us, every detail. The next day he’s back saying it’s intractable, nutters on both sides, 72 virgins lol
Leigh Beadon@leighbeadon

If you trap a boomer in a one-on-one argument for an entire afternoon you can eventually get them to acknowledge how crazy the cost of housing is now. However the effects only last for ~12 hours and the next morning they will text you "why don't you just find a cheap apartment?"

Bernie Sanders: “To give another 20K bombs to a country which committed genocide in Gaza happens to be among many other things, forget the moral issue, happens to be in violation of American law. You don’t sell arms to countries that violate international law and human rights. Clearly Israel has done that. Why anybody in their right minds would want to continue funding Israel is beyond me”

"In the past hour we've heard Irans foreign minister has told the UK that providing military bases for the US will be considered participation in aggression" Of course it is. Despite what our govt & complicit media are telling us, we've been dragged into this war.

@b_northerner @cjsnowdon Exactly, each one of those projects has been pulled by a senior politician for political reasons (garden bridge was never going to happen out of those). I don’t think you can blame consultants for the promotor pulling the plug on things.

@cjsnowdon It wasn't wasted in the sense that it couldn't happen. Reeves pulled the plug on it, like the A1 upgrade, to run cover for the 22bn black hole lie.

But it’s a regular feature Chris Nothing happens - HS2, Thames tunnel - just carry on as normal There is no political will to do We need out of the Aarhus Convention at a bare minimum Labour & Tories won’t do that because they’re all in thrall to the fake climate change bollocks In the meantime the lawyers love it The money doesn’t just disappear The legal industry has been filling their boots for decades, likely buying up second homes in the Med
