@PeterObi Why Peter Obi Faces Attacks from Both APC and Atiku’s Supporters In the turbulent arena of Nigerian politics, Peter Obi has become a lightning rod for attacks from both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), popularly identified with the “Agbado” slogan of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the loyalists of Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The reason for this dual assault is rooted in the disruptive force Obi represents, the embarrassment he caused to entrenched political powers, and the way his rise has unsettled both camps’ ambitions. 1. The APC Angle: Lagos as Tinubu’s Stain For APC supporters, the bitterness traces back to Lagos State, the political fiefdom of Tinubu. Peter Obi’s victory in Lagos during the 2023 presidential election struck a deep nerve. Tinubu has long been revered by his followers as the political “Lord and Savior” of Lagos, and losing the state to Obi was more than a political upset, it was a humiliation, a dent in his carefully crafted image of invincibility. This stain remains a painful reminder that Tinubu’s dominance can indeed be challenged. Adding to this, there is the widespread perception both in Nigeria and abroad that Peter Obi actually won the 2023 election, or at the very least, came much closer to victory than official results suggested. The APC is acutely aware of this sentiment, which explains why they have unleashed an endless stream of propaganda machinery to discredit Obi and the Obedient movement. Every attempt to undermine him is essentially an attempt to erase that stain and protect Tinubu’s fragile legacy. 2. The Atiku Camp: Spoilt Chances and Shattered Ambitions On the other side, Atiku Abubakar’s supporters have their own grievances. Many of them, often dismissed as political jobbers, are furious with Obi for what they perceive as sabotaging Atiku’s chances of finally clinching the presidency. By pulling a massive portion of the electorate—particularly the youth and voters in the South-East, South-South, and North-Central—Obi disrupted the traditional PDP base. To Atiku loyalists, Obi is the spoiler who dashed their hopes of political appointments, contracts, and relevance. Their anger is not necessarily about principles or policies; it’s about lost opportunities. Stripped of Obi’s votes, they believe Atiku would have stood a better chance against Tinubu. Without that victory, many of them remain politically idle, waiting for crumbs that will never come. Their attacks on Obi are, therefore, less about ideology and more about personal survival in Nigeria’s patronage-driven political culture. 3. Why the Dual Attacks Persist The combined hostility from both APC and Atiku’s camp underscores just how much Obi has unsettled the system. He represents the nightmare of Nigeria’s political establishment: a credible alternative who exposed their weaknesses, challenged their dominance, and gave voice to millions who were previously apathetic or resigned to the status quo. For APC, Obi is the stain they cannot wash off. For Atiku’s supporters, he is the thief who stole their meal ticket. For the Obedient movement, however, these attacks are proof that Obi is reshaping the political order. Conclusion Peter Obi’s unique position facing fire from both the ruling APC and the opposition PDP illustrates the depth of the disruption he has caused in Nigeria’s political landscape. His Lagos victory remains a scar on Tinubu’s dominance, while his pull among the masses destroyed Atiku’s last shot at power. That both sides continue to attack him is not a sign of weakness but of his growing influence. Obi has shifted the conversation, and as long as he remains relevant, the establishment on both sides will keep trying to pull him down, proof that he has truly unsettled the old order. 04/05/26 PRESS STATEMENT ALIGNMENT WITH THE NIGERIA DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) The Obidient Movement affirms the next phase of our collective political engagement. Following the decision of His Excellency, Peter Obi, to disengage from the ADC in pursuit of a more stable, credible, and value driven vehicle for national transformation, and his subsequent registration alongside Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, we are moving forward to consolidate our collective efforts on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This transition reflects the strategic necessity for national renewal, which requires a united, stable, and functional political platform through which the aspirations of the Nigerian people can be effectively pursued. We call on all members of the Obidient Movement to proceed with registration into the Nigeria Democratic Congress at their respective wards. To support this process, a digital membership platform has been made available to enable seamless registration for Nigerians at home and abroad. Members are encouraged to register via the official portal: ndcregister.com As we take this step, we remain guided by our shared vision of building a New Nigeria anchored on accountability, competence, and service to the people. This is not merely a political transition, but a continuation of our collective commitment to national transformation. Let us remain united, focused and resolute as we build a platform that truly reflects the will and aspirations of the Nigerian people. A New Nigeria is possible. My sister, the truth is that nobody will play Jagaban type of politics and still give you the Nigeria of your dreams. Anybody that plays his type of politics will still give you same type of governance and leadership style as his or worse. When you talk about Jagaban's political prowress, you're talking of politics of divide and rule, politics of 'hijack it", politics of use thuggery to win elections or intimidate oppositions, politics of using "Baba S'ope" to pick and favor political proteges and loyalists over credible candidates. If that is what you want then no other politician in Nigeria does it better than him. But if what you want is a sane leadership, leadership of compassion, true statesmanship, leadership devoid of greed, arrogance and do or die, you have to look beyond those type of Jagaban attributes when trying to chose a leader.
RUQAYAH@savvy_ruqqy

Jagaban is not perfect oo but these people need to learn politics from him.

Prep yourselves for some of the greatest shock of your life. In 2007 social media wasn’t what it is today, so you won’t exactly say that anyone was watching or everything was aimed for campaign or record of future political ambition. Soo!! That year @PeterObi as Gov of Anambra State rejected two plots of land allocated offered to him, No cameras, it was simply just about principle. In 2015 he rejected oil block too. No one in their sound mind does something like that in this country, absolutely NO ONE!!; sure, sometimes I feel like Obi is not in his sound mind, maybe that’s why. In a country where public office is often a ticket to personal wealth, Obi’s refusal to enrich himself or his family. But this is just the start, and I think you’re not shocked enough: Obi Rejected Honorary Doctor degree from 7 Universities that I’m sure of. There are also claims that he declined a professorship title too simply because he hadn’t earned it through the academic process, I’m yet to verify this particular claim though. With Obi it’s basically Integrity over honorary accolades. Ask yourself here and now, when last did you hear a politician say no to a shiny title? As Governor, Obi rejected a N400M offer from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Don’t forget he already turned down an oil well deal prior. Obi didn’t stop there. He declined his pension as an ex-governor. While others collect hefty retirement packages, Obi said, “No, thanks.” He also left ₦75 billion in state savings when he exited office in 2014. In 2022, Obi shared how the Bauchi State governor offered him land in Abuja, and he refused. In Obi’s words: “I told him I don’t need it.” The governor later confirmed Obi was the only one to decline such an offer. Obi’s philosophy as Governor was clear: “I became Governor to serve my people, not to enjoy undue privileges.” He lived it to the fullest: Rejected lands Cut governance costs, and showed public office isn’t a family business. That’s the mindset Nigeria needs in a National leader Here’s more: Obi personally funded boreholes, school renovations, and hospital upgrades in Anambra without dipping into state funds. He used his own money to support communities, setting a standard no one else has matched. Sure many Nigerians today ask how can he replicate that as just one man in the presidency?? Sure he can. He once challenged the status quo, so he can do it again. No Government Office holder in Nigeria has declined to use his position to enrich his family or friends except Peter Obi.” That’s a legacy worth talking about. Peter Obi’s record isn’t perfect, nobody’s record is, however his consistent rejection of personal gain in a system that rewards it is nothing short of extraordinary. Nigeria deserves leaders who serve, not the ones who exploit through contracts, manipulation of national budget and Ecetra

People ask me why am I bold I had a father that loved me. Ask people that know me the loving relationship I had with my father, it was so loving that in the last 10 years of my dad’s life I called him everyday. Our bond was so strong and from that I realized that perfect love caseteth out fear. I love dearly because I was loved. I fight for the right of others because I was loved and affirmed. A lot of people were not loved and I understand the hurt it brings. Parents love your kids!

“Presidential Aide @aonanuga1956 said Peter Obi is a political nomad. I prefer to be a political nomad than a presidential nomad. Our president is actually nomadic. Imagine where he is today, imagine the past 6 months where he has been. He spends more time outside than here. Maybe he has infused nomadology or nomadism into Nigeria political behavior.” ~Prof. Udenta knocks @aonanuga1956

Yesterday, we took a bold and decisive step by formally joining the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). At the residence of Senator Seriake Dickson in Abuja, I announced that our decision stems from a deep commitment to democratic values. We are determined to provide our people with a credible platform where they can thrive and realise their full potential. I therefore call on all our dedicated supporters and well-meaning Nigerians to join the NDC and stand with us in this renewed fight for good governance and true democracy. - RMK

People say, “If I were @PeterObi , I would just leave politics. I’m not hungry for it. I can afford to live abroad.” But it’s easy to say that when it’s not your vision, not your burden, not your name carrying the weight of millions of expectations. What many don’t see is that ambition is not always about comfort. Sometimes it is about conviction. About believing that something can be better, even when the road is rough and the noise is loud. And yes, the noise is loud. The insults, the doubts, the labels; “desperate,” “clueless,” “wasting time.” It wears people down. It makes quitting sound reasonable. Even wise. But if every man walked away the moment it became uncomfortable, then nothing meaningful would ever be built. No change would ever survive resistance. Because truth is, it is not failure that breaks people, it is regret. The quiet thought years later: I should have stayed a little longer. I should have tried a little harder. Whether Peter Obi becomes president or not, that is not even the deepest question anymore. The deeper question is: did he stay true to what he believed, even when it was inconvenient? Did he give it everything, or did he let exhaustion and noise decide for him? Because in the end, life does not always reward outcomes. Sometimes it honours persistence. And on a quiet day in the future, what will matter most is not what people said about him, but whether he could look back and say, I didn’t give up on what I believed too soon. Tough times don’t last. But the weight of regret can last a lifetime.
Peter Obi@PeterObi

Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
