Crossing just reopened after 13 years shut and yesterday Iraq sent the first official convoy of 70 tankers.
This is Iraq’s workaround: using Syria as a land bridge to the Mediterranean to dodge the messy Strait of Hormuz chaos.

Earlier today at Camden Yards, Pete Alonso addressed the Mets’ offseason overhaul, his departure, and how he views both the organization’s direction and his time in New York after joining the Orioles.
On David Stearns reshaping the roster, Alonso said:
“It’s just one of those things that’s like, if that’s the direction they choose to go, that’s their prerogative,” Alonso said.
On the Mets moving on without seriously pursuing him:
“There were a lot of things that they needed to address,” Alonso said.
On whether he felt appreciated, Alonso said:
“One hundred percent,” Alonso said. “Just because an organization wants to go a different way doesn’t mean that they didn’t appreciate what I did there… I can’t look back and be disgruntled. It’s time to go. It’s fine.”
He still refers to the Mets as his “chosen baseball family,” despite a roster overhaul after seven seasons in which he missed just 24 games.
On the team’s current struggles, Alonso said:
“It’s a talented team. It’s early in the season,” Alonso said. “I know they’re not playing well, but you look at 2024 — it was doom and gloom until it wasn’t. Then it was like we shocked the world. Everybody was like, ‘Well, we knew we were going to play better. We were too talented not to.’ It’s baseball. Crazy things happen.”
Now in Baltimore, Alonso called the fit an “easy decision.”
“The values of this organization align with my values as a player,” Alonso said.

Luke Weaver was incredibly thoughtful postgame talking about the mental side of this spiral. There’s no doubt this team is pressing to an extreme degree, which is the absolute worst thing you can do in baseball. Stopping it, though, is easier said than done.

As I have said since these hostilities with Iran began, the President’s authority as Commander-in-Chief is not without limits. The Constitution gives Congress an essential role in decisions of war and peace, and the War Powers Act establishes a clear 60-day deadline for Congress to either authorize or end U.S. involvement in foreign hostilities. That deadline is not a suggestion; it is a requirement.
Our military has performed magnificently and with great courage and sacrifice in diminishing the threat that Iran poses to our country, our allies, the broader Middle East, and the world.
Further military action against Iran must have a clear mission, achievable goals, and a defined strategy for bringing the conflict to a close. I voted to end the continuation of these military hostilities at this time until such a case is made.

There was ZERO chance you could hear each other! I never wore earphones as I loved the "earthquake" caused by the V10 engines. But it was abnormal.
