The goal came on one of the most danergous rules in hockey: When a goalie's mask comes off during play, the officials don't blow the whistle unless there's no immediate scoring chance. In this case, Karel Vejmelka was turtling, hoping not to get hit in the face with a puck after his mask popped off. That has been a hot topic the last few years. Jake Oettinger had one just like it somewhat recently. The reason for the rule is that a goalie could theoretically shake his mask off to prevent a scoring chance. I've never agreed with the rule — player safety should be a top priority — but it is the right call, given the current rules.
