🔥 Brexit caused British energy prices to soar. We left the EU’s integrated energy market, added friction, and reduced cooperation on supply and pricing. So now we’re more exposed and drilling more doesn’t fix that 👉 only rejoining the EU does! We already produce a large share of our gas and still pay global prices.

Rising interest rates. ▪️Supermarkets squeezing every last penny. ▪️And if fly-tippers dump on their land? Farmers pay the price. This isn’t mismanagement …. it’s policy failure. Energy security isn’t a slogan, it’s a choice. Norway chose to extract North Sea oil and build a $1.5 trillion sovereign wealth fund. Britain chose to restrict it and import more instead. Same sea. Same resource. Different outcomes. If Britain is serious about energy security, we must start with what’s beneath our own waters.

@johnredwood Excessive profits should be reinvested but that doesn’t happen in Britain’s ’For Profit’ utilities.

High UK energy prices are not caused by excessive profits but by sky high taxes. The more government bans,taxes and regulates our energy the less energy we have. Too little supply drives prices up.
