@KeeganMatheson I would also gather that with an infield group of Okamoto, Gimenez, Clement and Vladdy that they can be patient with him and build up so that he sticks in the majors once he gets there.

There’s been some debate on it, but I love that the #BlueJays kept Nimmala back in Vancouver to open ‘26.
He’d gotten aggressive assignments because the org believed in his talent and maturity. Now comes the pivot where production needs to drive this.

@davehall1289 I don’t understand why they wouldn’t sign him to a contract. Have it start next season and he can hopefully get a few games in Abbotsford this year.
Only reason you don’t sign him is if he has already said he wants one more year at Michigan for educational purposes.

@SatiarShah I would think that with his slowing pace in point production, the fact that he’s the fist of his draft class to get to 500 points is something impressive. With the like of Makar and Hischier, it’s something that would seem unlikely.

That being said, with the dumpster fire going on in Vancouver, it’s not surprising that they have felt the impact.

I'm voting yes. Needs 7 games. Would be an absolutely horrible look on the franchise to make the decision to keep him from an incredible milestone for any player. Foote said last week it's on his radar, so have to think that means Kane will reach 1000 here shortly

@CanucksArmy Buhr and Cleaves would be the two to target with more push. They offer size something they need to add, especially in the young players group.
They have drafted a lot of small or average build guys and outside of Safonov who they traded for, it’s not a thing they have much of.

@PierreVLeBrun My question is for the draft lottery. Based on the statement they will have the 32nd pick regardless and every one who was supposed to follow them will move up one spot. However if they finish 11th do they stay at 11 for the lottery and then slide? Or do they slide before?

The Senators behind the scenes had been lobbying the NHL for quite a while on the forfeited 1st RD pick and as the league said in the statement what got traction was that the Dadonov screw-up happened under former ownership and former management. The more the league thought about it, the more that hit home.
A $1M fine is not nothing, but the Sens for sure are satisfied with this result, getting the 32nd overall pick, and happy to put it behind them and move forward.

@patersonjeff @CanucksArmy I can understand getting Kane to 1000 Games, but if you’re going to run a PP1 of nothing but vets it would be wise to get your young players on PP2. They after all going towards a rebuild.
