Powering ⚡️progress in the West Nile region! Hon. @NankabirwaRS - Minister @MEMD_Uganda has commissioned the Nyagak III (6.6MW) Hydropower Plant, a major milestone in strengthening Uganda’s energy infrastructure and lighting up communities. This power plant evacuates power to the national grid through UETCL’s 80MVA 132kV Nebbi Substation. “This project is a key milestone in our commitment to deliver reliable and affordable power to all Ugandans.” - said Hon. Nankabirwa.

Today, together with Hon. @PNyamutoro , we proudly commissioned the Nyagak III Hydropower Project in Zombo District, a $20M, 6.6MW Public-Private Partnership milestone funded by @GovUganda and @afreximbank . This project delivers one of Uganda’s lowest tariffs, finally answering West Nile’s electrification needs and fueling growth across our Nation.

In @uetcl's Corporate Strategic Plan 2024-2029, the company is pursuing an aggressive Grid Investment and Expansion Strategy with a tactical business turnaround focusing on Financial and Operational Restructuring. We managed to maintain stable operations of our grid network on average 98.2%. Availability, exceeding the regulator target of 98%. Given the expanded transmission grid network, UETCL looks forward to operationalizing the regional offices in Western and Northern parts of the country that will improve the response time to addressing grid related faults by our technical teams. cc @KwameEjalu @ERA_Uganda @NankabirwaRS.

What a week it has been at the closure of day 3 of the Africa Electricity Symposium 2025 in Kampala. Today, UETCL joined sector players in diving into key issues facing the future of Uganda's electricity sector. Eng. Ann Muhereza, UETCL’s Manager Grid Planning and Development, represented the UETCL CEO during the panel discussion. The teams discussed a wide range of issues ranging from innovative grid balancing solutions to cutting-edge cybersecurity in modern power systems. We are proud to be part of conversations shaping a brighter, more reliable future for Africa as we are committed to Transmitting for Transformation.

Stakeholder engagement is part of the UETCL corporate culture. Our way leaves team successfully conducted sensitization meetings along the Mutundwe – Kabulasoke – Nkenda 132Kv transmission. This took place in the villages of Kyambazi -Nsangi, Kyengere town council in Wakiso district, Mitwetwe village and Kalamba town council in Butambala district. During the exercise, the community practically took measurements of the existing wayleaves corridor to ascertain their extent of compliance in ensuring their safety.
