Any one need some obscure Napoleonic Wars content? I saw this and I have the companion volume about Bentinck’s wider political career so I thought why not… 🇬🇧 🇮🇹 📚

@nic_munoz Reminds me of my old headmaster's comment to my parents about my academic attainment - 'He's not bright, he just reads a lot'.

How Napoleon learned any subject insanely fast: "He went up to an old general named Krieg, a man with a wonderful knowledge of detail and the author of a very good soldiers manual. He made him take a seat beside him at the table, and began questioning him, pen in hand, about a host of facts connected with the service of discipline. Some of his questions showed such a complete ignorance of the most ordinary things that several of my comrades smiled. I was myself struck by the number of his questions, their order and their rapidity, no less than the way by which the answers were caught up, and often found to resolve into other questions which he deduced in consequence from them." Napoleon simply read books and talked to people. That's it. Simple.

Thoroughly enjoyed a tour of Parliament (Palace of Westminster) with our gracious host Andrew Roberts @aroberts_andrew - it was a stunning and thrilling experience. Be on the lookout 👀 for Andrew’s book “Napoleon & his Marshals” coming soon! #ukparliament

Ethiopia iz the only African country that was never colonised and their art remains original. A little late but i remembered an exhibition i saw in the Toledo Museum of Art Ohio: Album Leaves with the Entombment of Christ (TOP LEFT), the Ascension of Christ (TOP RIGHT), the Assumption of the Virgin (BOTTOM LEFT), and Saint George (BOTTOM RIGHT) PIGMENTS ON VELLUM, LATE 17TH CENTURY Minneapolis Institute of Art, The Robert J. Ulrich Works of Art Purchase Fund, 2009.39.3y, bb, dd, oo This set of leaves, from a series of 44, exhibits a similar figural style and palette as the manuscript from Säwa in the case to your right, and these may have been produced in that city as well. These leaves, now matted separately, are large in scale; however, they were originally arranged in series and were likely painted on several long sheets of parchment that were sewn together and folded accordion-style to form a sansul, or chained manuscript.

@kejamieson_ One teacher on iTalky was genuinely impressed with my random military vocabulary, and seems to think I could probably storm a town or take a hill in Spanish! 🤣

@JoshProvan Amazing 😂😂😂 see my Spanish is genuinely appalling. I can ask for beer and for directions, and then have knowledge of loads of weird naval terms which aren't remotely helpful in everyday life, and that's about it

Whenever I am in Sweden or Denmark, with work or for fun, I end up with people coming up to me and asking me questions in Swedish or Danish and whilst my Swedish is passable and Danish reading is okay... for the most part I cannot help with these things 😂

The War Museum in Copenhagen 🇩🇰 One of the best museums I've visited in a very long time. Exceptionally well curated and ofc lots of guns & ships ⚓️👀 Goes all the way through to the modern day & is housed in the old Arsenal - the longest vaulted hall in northern Europe.

@FinalTo27107719 @AndNapoleon I have consumed so much Napoleonic content by this stage, the osmosis sometimes makes me stand like I’m in a portrait painted by Lawrence or David! (Fencing when I was a teenager might also have something to do with it. )
