@vicbutnot @Josh_C90 @reldrago It's weird. Like if I were to quit my job right now, I'd get paid the holiday hours I earned despite not taking the holidays but if I continue working I have to request the paid holiday hours otherwise they reset

@Harnpstead @Autumnmmnm @reldrago And that's her right to. When she left or retired she would have been paid out 2.5 years of leave. If you have a max of 5 weeks, you will never see any more than that, and as she stated, the employer said "take it before it's busy" which leaves her with less options.

At least if it accrues and stays, you can opt to have it paid to you in a lump-sum if you don't take it. It's the same concept as "Unlimited PTO". Sounds good in theory, but it's not.

@ConnorBLU21 @Autumnmmnm @reldrago Because in Australia, you get 4 weeks a year paid leave, as apart of that paid leave, you also get 17% bonus pay called "leave loading". You earn that leave by working. This essentially says you HAVE to take leave, but also when we're not busy, not when you want.

@Autumnmmnm @reldrago Oh my god, that has to be the most anti-employee policy I've ever heard of. In Australia we only get 4 weeks a year, but it never expires, usually we get a gentle "nudge" after 6 weeks because it becomes a liability to the company.

@Josh_C90 @reldrago In the uk you get a certain amount of holiday hours that gets reset once a year, so if you havent used them by the time they reset, you've effectively lost thos holiday hours

@reldrago Nah, they dont really allow holidays during the summer as that's when they get really busy. And I haven't used them at all yet so I have to use them otherwise I'll lose them
