Maybe I'm just petty and vindictive or otherwise sheltered from what's the expected societal norms in regards to experiencing this very specific incident, but I find it odd that the president, the president who is renown to be very outspoken on every insigificant trivial matter, that's his entire brand after all, being crass and unfiltered, doesn't even discuss his near death scenario at all, wouldn't that stick with you? I mean he blames democrats for anything and everything from borders to murders to criminal filings, but doesn't even attempt to throw them under the bus for, according to his current ideology (assuming what he'll say on the matter if he ever addressed it), cultivating an environment that triggered his assassination attempt in the first place. Its an easy narrative win, people are guranteed to believe it. He just let it simmer and fester away into the background, sure it was a contentious topic throughout 2024 and majority of 2025 amongst the right, but Trump never actually brings it up out of spite or whatever. Especially now when people are starting to actually question the validity of the incident (which was once considered unfathomable back in 2024, it was a cut and dry case)

Calling people bigots for wanting consistent enforcement of immigration law isn't an argument. I said every child white, non-white, conservative, Jewish, whatever, is worthy of love and care. That's not controversial, don't insult me by being deliberately obtuse. The disagreement is over how to best protect kids long-term. Ad hominem doesn't change the fact that illegal entry has consequences for the whole family, and no country lets unlimited people stay just because they brought a child. And if you're resorting to bringing up undergarments as a response for being pro-child, maybe take a step back and ask why defending consistent immigration enforcement triggers that level of weirdness to immediately pivot to sharply questioning what underwear I'm wearing.

Okay, I'll begrudingly concede on one small tiny aspect. No one in this thread literally typed 'non-white kids have no rights.' Fair point. But the repeated push is 'send the families back to their homelands/communities', which in practice means deporting these kids (many of whom have spent years here or were born here) alongside their parents for the parents' illegal entry. Every child deserves care and isn't responsible for their parents' choices. Detention at Dilley has real problems right now (reports of inadequate food, medical care, long stays beyond legal limits, even self-harm cases). Closing bad conditions doesn't require open borders. It requires fixing the incentives that lead to more dangerous crossings and family detentions in the first place. If the same family were white Europeans overstaying visas, the enforcement logic would be identical under current policy. Status, not skin color.
