It depends on what your goals are. But if you are interested in civilization, stability, order, virtue at scale, then third worldism is incompatible with those ends.

In practice this is an ideology built on resentment. The third worldist says you have wealth --> you could not have acquired wealth legitimately --> I must kill you to restore equality (by taking your wealth after you are dead)

Mr Lament is a great friend of the Journal and we have nothing but respect for him. However, on this matter I must disagree Third worldism should be avoided at all cost, it is anti civilizational in essence.

Had a fiery back and forth with a self-proclaimed "Canadian nationalist" who accused me of being a covert French-Canadian separatist. He just couldn't believe I actually want both the French and British traditions to thrive in North America. He thought my proposal of rebooting the Dominion, and transferring MOST powers to the Provinces bordered on treason. He still believes in the possibility of a unitary Canadian state. @C_Classiques @Dunbrachen But perhaps this is the root of our disagreement. Should all nations have states? I don't think a realistic view of history leads one to believe that all nations can have their own states. Ergo a state containing multiple nations (not necessarily equally) is not a problem.

The Canadian state exists and has legal relations with different explicit nations within the territorial boundaries of Canada.
