They didn’t kill Destiny for Marathon, they killed Destiny because it was a dying live service that was burning money. Marathon is also burning money and it will probably be shut down once Sony is finished pushing out the content currently in the pipeline.
Destiny has rarely been above 10k concurrent players on Steam in the last several months. Marathon is a live service that has lost over 80 percent of its players since its launch. Bungie is a studio that employs 850 people and the revenues from these games are not covering their salaries.
Sony is cutting its losses on this studio.

@DanFriedman81 Destiny has had over 10k players multiple weeks across these months. Also they were dealing with a content drought for months and people were still logging in to play. Marathon is still new and barely beating destiny on a daily basis.

I do not believe Bungie is in a position to make Destiny 3 given their dismal financial status within PlayStation.
I think Bungie is coming to an end if Marathon doesn't radically improve in the next year or two.
I do not think Destiny 3 will happen.

Riot Games explained that the new Vanguard update is designed only to stop advanced cheating devices, not to harm normal computers.
Some cheaters use special external hardware called DMA devices to secretly access game data and avoid detection. Vanguard now blocks those devices by using a standard Windows security feature called IOMMU protection.
For regular players, nothing changes:
>Your PC will not be damaged.
>Normal hardware and software are unaffected.
>Games and programs will work normally if you are not using cheating hardware.
The DMA devices themselves are not destroyed or damaged. They just can’t be used to cheat in games like Valorant and League of Legends anymore.
Riot says the goal of the update is to reduce cheating and keep matches fair.

Destiny 2's team was already stretched so thin it wouldn't be enough manpower to start a new game. Not to mention running maintenance on the current one

If the numbers are terrible they can pull that funding. The only thing guaranteed is that season 2 is funded. Funding can be pulled for the other seasons.
