I've prolly been one of the earliest users of @AviciMoney , Way before they even had planned a token when their app was in test flight only. This isn't a decision developers can make; it's a proposal the entire ecosystem must collectively approve. Whether there is an elimination of the hard cap, that is not about a sudden supply increase, but about a community choice to adopt a more sustainable long-term security model. The supply currently is ~28.6Million, growing every day depending on inflation minus fees. Ethereum/Solana/Near has no hard cap and chooses tail inflation with burning. @Justin_Bons argued multiple times about this being a sound choice. Year 10 is coming, the protocol must work till the end of times. A small, predictable issuance of eGLD can perpetually reward the validators who secure the network. Without a mechanism like this, validator rewards would eventually cease, killing the economic security of the chain. The predictable issuance could be counterbalanced by an enhanced burning mechanism, creating deflationary pressure from network activity. Ultimately, you, the community, will decide whether to maintain the current model or transition to a dynamic one designed for infinite security and viability. The great danger in any monetary system is discretionary action by a small group of central planners. Your community's fear of removing the hard cap is, rightly, a fear of this arbitrary power. However, a community-wide vote transforms the entire dynamic. The developers are not acting as central bankers; they are proposing a constitutional amendment that the citizens themselves must enact. Let's be unequivocally clear: this is not about developers making unilateral decisions. It is about presenting carefully considered proposals to the entire ecosystem for collective approval.
