1. Do not send that long epistle after they break up with you. I know you want to express yourself, but trust me, they don’t care. Vent to your friends or journal instead.
2. Until you summon the courage to delete their pictures, videos, and number, and mute or block them everywhere, you are not ready to heal and move on.
3. Some days, it will feel like you have healed; then you wake up another day and it feels like you are back to square one. Just be patient with yourself, healing is not linear.
4. Some people will not be bold enough to initiate a breakup; instead, they will frustrate you and treat you poorly. Walk away while the ovation is still high. It is okay to break up with them.
5. Do not sit around hoping they will come back. Move on once, and move on properly. You have not met half of the people who are going to love you genuinely yet.
6. It is okay to cry, talk to a friend, go to the gym, go to church, or do anything to improve your mental health. The only thing that is not okay is begging them to take you back. Begging is degrading.
7. Missing them is not a reason to reach out or rekindle anything. You once loved them or still do, so your heart may yearn for them sometimes. Don’t fall for it.
8. Write down all the terrible things they did to you or how badly they treated you. Anytime you feel like reaching out or if they do, read it and remind yourself why you deserve better.
9. Do not use anyone as a placeholder. That is unfair to them and to yourself. Embrace the heartbreak. Feel every emotion that comes with it. Take it one day at a time until you fully heal.
10. It will hurt, and hurt, and one day, it will no longer hurt. Again, be patient with yourself. Time is what will help you find yourself again. It does get better.

Attention pedophiles:
Now, according to our new state law in Florida, if you rape a child you will be put to death. Keep your hands off our children.
Thank you to the Florida legislature and @GovRonDeSantis for getting this done.

Remember when Pastor E.A. Adeboye said he would never have a female secretary/PA be alone with a woman who isn’t his wife? He was heavily dragged online for that statement. Many young people insulted him, calling him old-fashioned or extreme, without realizing that he was speaking from a place of wisdom, experience, and responsibility.
Interestingly, this is Jason Derulo a secular artist, not even a Christian, expressing the exact same sentiment after the accusations he faced. He said he would never again be alone in a room with a woman because of how easily a situation can be twisted and how devastating the consequences can be. And even after his case was dismissed, the dismissal didn’t trend nearly as much as the initial accusation that damaged his name.
I’m not defending Jason Derulo, I don’t know anything about his personal life. It’s simply an observation: some truths are universal.
Like it or not, some principles that elders teach aren’t about religiosity; they are about wisdom, protection, and foresight. And sometimes it takes seeing the same pattern repeat in the life of a completely different person before we realize those truths were never outdated.
