I recently received this letter from a reader: “I also enjoyed the introduction and [reading about] your battle with Lyme disease. And then your closing with the death of your father and your vigil by his bedside. What does one do without family? Rely on little acts of kindness.”

I fed an albino squirrel today. You don’t get to write that often, if ever. Thank you, Universe, for our beautiful parks and animals and all the lovely people I spoke to today whom I had never met before but who were all genuinely super friendly and smiling! *Catches breath* 🌞

It was a blustery day for celebrations yesterday but we four braved the storm for an evening of wearin o’ the green, libations, great food, and company. Grateful for these ladies whom I have known for years. Love you, all. We had a ball and solved a few world problems. ☘️

No one government or person will stop me from writing. I came into the world as a writer in childhood and I will leave as one. It’s not over. Defend NS books. Lift up voices. Don’t be a part of silencing them! Solidarity.

Happy dance! Our deck is now free of snow for the first time in months. I swept today. And we still have furniture outside. So after work I set up my Easter tree and read my friend Jane Doucet’s new novel which comes out this spring! So grateful to hear the melt and the birdsong.

It’s a hefty pile. These are some of my books from Nova Scotian and Atlantic Canadian writers, some near and some far - gone to the great library in the sky. I grew up in a house of readers. Let’s ensure the kids today and the next generation have the same chance. Stop the cuts!

As a Nova Scotian author, I’m outraged. Funding for ALL NS book publishers, many museums & others has been stripped this week by the NS government. It’s a gut punch. Don’t brush this off. Literacy is important to critical thinking skills, problem solving, and community building.

BREAKING: Top three required items for next 24 hours: 1. Mug o’ tea (in cheery mug) 2. Blanket 3. ESC (emotional support cat) Stay safe. Stay snuggly. Stay off the roads unless you have essential work. Back to you in studio. 🐈‍⬛ ❄️ 🪏
