Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

It’s kinda crazy how modern interpretations just refuse to do this now.

It had the luxury & benefit of being able to tell a laser focused character driven Peter Parker Spider-Man story without having to cram in cameos & set ups for future movies in the universe. We’ll never get that again for Spidey. It’s just how it is now, unfortunately.

@kartosiewicz Probably your recency bias, I grew up with these films and there's simply no argument against Tom Holland's Spider-Man not being the best as Peter and as Spider-Man at this point.

I enjoyed watching Brand New Day mostly for the greatly improved cinematography and action sequences, but if you think the writing was good or that the current MCU isn’t badly written fan fiction then you have Marvel psychosis. Script is kind of a structural and character disaster, with nearly every aspect revolving around serving the poorly thought out MCU meta-narrative. Uses near 100% reference and cameo slop vs developing out the further niche of Peter’s corner of the world.

This villain along with the rest in the early montage were literally just low-hanging nostalgia bait. They ended up having no major role at all. A huge disappointment for me personally. Would have taken Tombstone hiring Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tarantula to hunt Spider-Man down over “wait till you see the X-Men movie coming soon”-ass Jean Grey. They said this movie was street level, but it felt like a mini-Avengers movie in terms of scale if anything. When you say “street level,” I think the Maggia, Kingpin, and the criminal underworld. Not a telepathic domestic terrorist.

I think my favorite scene in the movie was when Peter innocently told MJ that it was the most fun time he'd had years later after only a few minutes of chatting with Ned while building Lego together. I think it was a small and sweet truth about living an isolated and introverted life. Even if it was only a tiny moment it personally touched me the most and my heart melted in the cinema

Tom Holland says the message that he hopes people take away from watching ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’. “You’re never truly alone. Sometimes in life the bravest thing you can do is ask for help.” (Source: thatgrapejuice.net/entertainment/…)

Really sucks that this shit is gonna be top 3 highest grossing movie ever man

One of my only gripes with this film is that they never explain how Peter gets any money… We don’t see him selling pictures to the Bugle or working a job. They explained he’s just Spider-Man all day every day. So how the hell can he afford this apartment?
