For many Jews, the obstacle to accepting Christ as the Messiah is the requirement that they accept the rest of humanity as equals in the eyes of God. Jews in the 1st century wanted a warrior to end the exile by leading them to vengeance against their enemies, but God’s purpose was to end the exile by bringing Jews and Gentiles together in Christ. The Messiah they rejected brought people on every continent to worship the God of Jacob, and the Jews’ insistence on remaining a people apart has brought them nothing but misery for 2,000 years. But the door is unlocked, and it’s never too late to come home.
