@ZwodderFudgel @Helen_Whately As per my original post: 1️⃣ Motability cars aren’t for specific conditions. 2️⃣ People must get the enhanced PIP mobility rate. 3️⃣ A physical/mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities = disability.

The Government won’t tighten eligibility for Motability to stop people getting free cars for acne, tennis elbow and ADHD. What hope is there of Labour making the hard choices on public spending if they won’t even do this? telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/…

@ZiaYusufUK I’m not Carol Vorderman but this is BS. Where’s your evidence? Benefits aren’t income - they’re for sickness & disability. People are living longer, becoming sick, disabled, meeting eligibility. That’s fairness. What’s unfair is spreading lies & hate. #Discrimination 🙄♿👎

Thanks to the Tories and Labour, if you claim Universal Credit Health, Universal Credit Housing and PIP, you now take home £2,500 more each year than someone working full time on minimum wage. There are around a million people who do just this. How is that fair?

@adamfare1996 Considering he is a former medical doctor you'd think (and hope) he'd know better than to come out with such crap. Perhaps he should change his name to "Dr David Bull💩" - more apt!

@Saratsoul @Helen_Whately I know. 😕 For MPs it's a case of "mind over matter" where disability benefits are concerned. As in "they don't mind what they say, as to them disabled people don't matter". So sad and frustrating. ♿👎

@Helen_Whately @Conservatives No, you didn't. Lying about it and having no knowledge of the benefits system has caused misinformation to the public who are naive enough to believe you. This has increased hate towards disabled people. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I lifted the lid on Motability ...a scheme set up for people with serious disabilities. It has stretched way beyond that now. @Conservatives would change that - and stop hardworking people who do the right thing being taken for a ride 👇 dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

@IanHollingwor10 @PolitlcsUK The facts are eligibility isn't based on specific medical conditions like acne as you say but on whether you receive a qualifying disability benefit at the highest rate mobility component. It's DWP and/or Tribunals that make decisions if you don't like it.

@JudgeGem @PolitlcsUK Not here to argue just telling you the facts, I speak to motability customers every day and the reasons they have motability cars are stunning, we had a named driver living 200 miles away driving the car and hadn't seen the claimant in 6 months,

@LurgeeLife He has no idea. Work does not make sick people better. It isn't "Arbeit macht frei" like Hitler said. Most disabilities are hidden; incl. MH. Putting DWP in GPs will erode trust and what about patient records and GDPR? 🙄👎♿

Pat McFadden wants to reduce welfare support for those with mental health issues Says these people are the main target for benefits overhaul because "30 yrs ago most of those conditions ("signed off sick") would have been physical disabilities" Archaic & dangerous #CareNotCuts

@IanHollingwor10 @PolitlcsUK You may repair them but it doesn't mean you're qualified to assess disability. Claimants only qualify if they meet the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP. May be the people you see are nominated drivers for the claimants and the claimants can't drive due to disability

@JudgeGem @PolitlcsUK Not true, I work repairing motability cars and trust me the reasons people have for getting them are unbelievable, then the named drivers(you can have 3 now)always have the car ans dont see the actual motability car holder for weeks at a time

@WheelieFUMS Awful idea. It's not support; it's surveillance disguised as such. It's hard enough to get appts and as the GP says, people go if they're ill. Surgeries cannot accommodate DWP and if they're there it will erode trust. It will also cause concern over patient records and GDPR.

💬 Work Coaches in GP Surgeries – Absolutely Not. GP surgeries are already stretched beyond breaking point. Many don’t even have enough clinical rooms for their own doctors, nurses, or mental health staff, and yet the DWP wants to move work coaches into these spaces. A GP surgery is meant to be a safe place, somewhere you go when you’re unwell, vulnerable, or in crisis. The last thing patients need is someone linked to the benefits system sitting in the same building, potentially watching who comes in and out, or pressuring people while they’re seeking medical help. This isn’t “joined-up care.” It’s surveillance dressed up as support. People go to their GP for compassion, not coercion. We deserve safety and trust in our healthcare settings — not the DWP at the door. #DisabilityRights #PatientsNotProjects #DWP #GPs #SafeSpaces #BenefitsSystem #SocialJustice #MSAwareness #ChronicIllness #MentalHealthMatters #CareNotCuts

@Helen_Whately So you criticise people with MH issues while being a trustee of @MindMaidstone and with parents who worked in healthcare? That doesn't sound like "common sense" to me.👎 FYI: You need more than a "sick note" to claim benefits, and Motability isn’t handed out easily. Do better.🙄

@BcEnglishman @PolitlcsUK 1) Only if a claimant meets the criteria for the enhanced rate of the mobility component of PIP and; 2) To get the car the claimant must first make an advance payment. 3) Any Motability car is NOT FREE. Claimants pay for it via the mobility element of their PIP allowance.

@BcEnglishman @PolitlcsUK No. Eligibility for Motability isn't based on a specific medical condition like ADHD, but on whether you receive a qualifying disability benefit at the highest rate. Not all cars are "luxury" either; claimants must give an advance payment. I'd say the ignorant one is you.🖕

@LBC @TomSwarbrick1 It doesn't make sense as you're chatting 💩. I'm no Carol Vorderman but look at the rates for UC and PIP. You cannot claim that amount of money for either benefit if sick or disabled. Do your research and stop spreading lies. #universal-credit-uc-monthly-rates" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">gov.uk/government/pub… #personal-independence-payment" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">gov.uk/government/pub…

@KemiBadenoch 1) Where has this data come from? 2) People only qualify for Motability if entitled to the enhanced rate of PIP. 3) Alcoholism & addictions aren't disabilities under the EqA 2010. On this basis & that drink drivers would be disqualified, what you've said is 💩.Get ur facts rite
