The PIP Review Terms of Reference states: 🚨"The Review will take account of OTHER REFORMS announced in the Pathways to Work Green Paper, such as the interaction with the removal of the WCA" My new blog explores the significant impacts & how to oppose 👇 lurgeelife.wordpress.com/2026/05/09/lab…

>1.1m people confirmed via the WCA as being unable to reliably work (LCW/LCWRA/ESA) are without DL PIP Of those ~600,000 tried & failed to qualify for PIP so under the newly proposed system (PIP as gateway) they would only be entitled to Standard UC with full work conditionality

Pathways to Work Green Paper: WCA scrappage: "is part of the fundamental reform to decouple financial support from capability to work" "PIP (non-means tested) & the health element of UC (means-tested) will both be non-work related...they will not be linked to capacity to work"

PIP is not about work capability LCW/LCWRA/ESA is about work capability Govt want to merge LCW/LCWRA/ESA with PIP "both will be non-work related, they will not be linked to capacity to work" 584,000 LCW/LCWRA/ESA tried & failed to qualify for PIP OPPOSE THIS PLAN BY THURS 👇

@starmerstie @PollyReturns They're eradicating the concept of being too unwell or disabled to work, that's how they're selling it: "The removal of the WCA is part of the fundamental reform to decouple financial support from capability to work" 👇 UC Health will still be means tested, that's the workaround.

I'm so very scared. Not only is LCWRA & PIP my only income, my only possible income, but my beloved is now having some serious health issues too. And the government want us dead.
LurgeeLiz@LurgeeLife

PIP as gateway will push hundreds of thousands of ill/disabled into POVERTY not work At least 23% will fail to qualify for ANY extra financial support Outcome is known: LCW (ill/disabled) & Standard UC (fit for work) get £494.90 pcm Into-work rates: LCW: 2% Standard UC: 7.9%

@starmerstie @PollyReturns I'm devastated this proposal isn't getting more pushback and outrage. I can't understand it. We're being fed to the bloody wolves. It's ESA all over again and the silence on it is deafening. 😢

Work Capability Assessments (WCA) assess how much a health condition or disability limits someone's capability to work. If awarded, claimants are protected from full UC work-search conditionality & LCWRA get more than Standard UC to take account of their lower earning capacity.

If you're angry about conflating PIP with work consider how *scared* LCWRA claimants are of the plan to merge their award with PIP LCWRA *is* about work capability but merging with PIP eradicates that acknowledgment, acceptance & protection OPPOSE THIS PLAN BY THURS 👀 ALT text

@SallyBourliakas @unojen_wood There are so many figures to get lost in!! Yes only 39% of that age group have limited or no work requirements, it's madness that Labour are making such a meal of it esp when there are no where near enough vacancies.

Jen Wood - est optimum simpliciter
What no one is mentioning in this 'whip people into wok' drive is that there are only 705,000 vacancies in the whole of the UK and that number is falling, so where are the jobs for 1.8 million people plus 957,000 'inactive' 16- 24 year olds to come from?
