22nd Circuit Judge Justin Hansen visited 8th graders @ Immanuel Lutheran School. Judge Hansen presented “Effective Arguments: From someone who listens to them for a living” working through different scenarios to talk about persuasive techniques & using precedent effectively.

The 2nd Annual IJA's Judges Go To School was a great success. In classrooms all over the state, judges talked with students, read books, shared stories, and answered questions. It was a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to next year!

This morning, Judge Facchini and I were happy to meet with area high school students earning college credit in @VlgAlgonquin Sgt. Salazar’s Contemporary Issues in Criminal Justice class.

Judges Robert Zalud & Justin Hansen @22ndCircuit, were grateful to present at the Family Violence Coordinating Council’s seminar “What I Wish the Professionals Knew.”  “The Judge Did What?!” focused on the judge’s perspective, what happens in court & how judges make decisions.

Judge Heinz Rudolf, 20th Circuit, presented IJA's 7 Reasons to Leave the Party & WOWWW, a program that addresses cyber bullying, to over 300 Jr High & High School students at @Dupo196. Judge Rudolf appreciated the students sharing their stories following the presentations.

Judges Jennifer Johnson & Justin Hansen @22ndCircuit visited @CaryGroveHS & spoke with students in Mr. Layne Holter’s AP Government class about the nuts & bolts of legal arguments, part of their curriculum. The judges were pleased to help students as they take on this challenge.

Judge Patricia Cornell and 16 of her colleagues in the @19thCircuitIL visited 31 classes as part of the IJA’s 2023 Judges Go to School Day. They donated 440 books about Abraham Lincoln and 590 coloring books! Thank you and the teachers and schools that partnered with us.

IJA 1st VP @illinoiscourts Justice David Overstreet was privileged to participate in IJA's Judge go to School Day & read to 3rd graders from Mrs. Baumhoegger's class at Dr. Nick Osborne Primary Center, Mount Vernon. The students were very attentive and had many questions!

Over 100 judges from all over the state celebrated Lincoln’s Birthday by participating in the JUDGES GO TO SCHOOL DAY on February 13th. Over 2000 books were given to students. Thank you to all the members of the IJA that participated & to all the schools for allowing us to visit!

IJA #MemberMonday - On February 13, 2023, Judges across Illinois will certainly matter to students as we celebrate Judges Go to School Day. Judges will go to various schools & engage students from 3rd – 12th grade through our in-school programs.
