The first opinion is in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II, on whether freight brokers can be held liable for negligent hiring. In a unanimous opinion from Barrett, the court holds that a claim that one company negligently hired another can move forward. supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf…

Didn’t realize a Chief Justice suffered medical emergency while presiding over SCOTUS in 1946. CJ Harlan Stone - “Stone suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while presiding over a session of the Supreme Court and died a few hours later at the age of 73.” #scotus

In FN 15, the post-trial court gets a shout out from the S.C. Supreme Court. “We commend the post-trial court, which inherited Murdaugh's motion for a new trial and was placed in the unenviable position of evaluating unprecedented jury interference by a clerk of court …”

Thoughts? “Because his law clerks draft opinions, Alito told the audience, the hardest part of hiring clerks for him is finding good writers. Educational institutions, he said, don’t do a good job of teaching students how to write.”
