🚨 On Aug 30, I was hacked. I lost ~$15k worth of crypto on MetaMask and, worse, my original X account @gemgemcrypto was stolen. I want to share the full story — both as a warning and in hopes of getting my X account back. 1/ It started when a project called @bonus_block reached out to me directly on my original account. They have 300k+ followers, had already launched a token, and many people I know followed them. It looked like a legit project. 2/ Their team DM’d me, asking to continue the convo on Telegram. The contact’s name was Marcus. He had been in touch with me for a while, explaining their DeFAI product, and eventually invited me to a Google Meet call. 3/ On the call, I spoke with this "Marcus" who is a white guy wearing glasses, camera on. He gave some background about the project and then said he wanted to add his colleague, “Joseph,” to demo their new product. 4/ Since Joseph was in China, he said he couldn’t join Google Meet and instead asked me to use a platform called @LumenaApp I had never heard of it, but when I Googled it, the first result looked like a legit web meeting service. That reduced my doubt. 5/ I clicked Marcus’ Lumena meeting link. The site looked like a normal meeting platform, except there was no audio. He said the audio issue was on my side and suggested I download Lumena directly from the site. 6/ At 9PM HKT, I downloaded the software. By 10:30PM, my MetaMask wallets were drained (~$15k) and my X account @gemgemcrypto was gone. The hacker changed my password + recovery email and blocked me on Telegram. 7/ I admit I made mistakes: – I didn’t have a Ledger connected to MetaMask. – I only had SMS 2FA on X instead of Google Authenticator. -Worst of all I shouldn't have downloaded some software from unknown party 8/ But here’s what frustrates me most: @X won’t give me back my account. I’ve reported multiple times. Every reply from @Safety says I “can’t prove I’m the original owner.” But I can: – Streaming platform @Restreamio still shows I have access to the original account. – @grok app on my phone that linked to my original @gemgemcrypto still proves ownership. – I filed a police report in Hong Kong. 9/ The hacker even tried to steal my YouTube channel, but failed thanks to stronger security. At least I still have that. 10/ Losing $15k sucks, lesson learnt. But losing my account—where I built my community for 4+ years—hurts even more. Today, I even went live on YouTube with my face, telling this story and proving who I am. 11/ So my question to @X and @elonmusk: what more can I possibly do to prove ownership? Police report, tech evidence, livestream with my face, linked accounts… all ignored. The funds are gone. I accept that. But I shouldn’t also lose my voice and community because X refuses to believe me. That’s my story. Thanks for reading 🙏
