Digital Payments Boost Vaccination Campaign Efficiency in Uganda Supporting districts to adopt digital payments can significantly improve the efficiency of mass vaccination campaigns in Uganda, even if the gains do not directly translate into higher worker motivation, a new study by @Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) researchers has found. Please find more details here: sph.mak.ac.ug/digital-paymen…

Register to join the conversation about one of Africa’s pressing climate and health challenges Topic: Heat Waves and Mortality in Africa: In-depth Overview and Quantification 🔗bit.ly/Heatwavesandmo… 🗓️ Wednesday, 8th October 2025 ⏰3:00–4:30 PM EAT | 2:00–3:30 PM CEST | 12:00–1:30 PM GMT This event is organized under the Cluster of Research Excellence (CoRE) for Preparedness and Response to Pandemics and Shocks, co-led by @Makerere University (Uganda) and Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), with partner institutions including the University of Cape Town @UCT_news, University of Cheikh Anta Diop, University of Oslo, University of Ibadan, Karolinska Institutet @karolinskainst, and the University of Kinshasa. About the Topic: The increasing frequency, intensity, and duration of heat waves, driven by climate change, pose a growing public health threat worldwide. Africa is disproportionately vulnerable to these risks due to geographical, socio-economic, infrastructural, and health system factors. Despite this vulnerability, research and surveillance on heat wave-associated mortality in Africa remain limited. This webinar will examine the evidence and approaches for quantifying mortality from heat waves, drawing on experiences from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, and South Africa.

Sweden - Ugandan collaboration involves a wide range of different actors. I learned of this partnership between Region Stockholm and Jinja to improve the quality of care for children when I visited the latter with #TeamEurope last year. Thanks @BusogaHealth for sharing! 🇸🇪🇺🇬
