My friend gave birth in prison while shackled to the gurney. They let her hold the baby for 45 mins then took her newborn away. She was in there for a non violent offense and never got to see her child again. Her child was adopted out as infants are in high demand.

It also happens in Western countries, in Australia Indigenous children are still being removed from their families. It's disgraceful.

Many of these biological parents are considered unfit by those with the power to take them away. Many adoptions have been forced. We need to support parents and their children.

@Heather71486076 @vasilupagus @schallerp65 @SenSchumer adoption is a curse I wouldn't wish on anyone let alone a young baby who has no opportunity to consent. Love is a dangerous defence in thus situation, it usually stands in for something else entirely. It is also used to emotionally blackmail.

@vasilupagus @schallerp65 @SenSchumer & this would mean adopted kids belong to no one? Love makes a family, blood isn’t always a player. (I am a step mom of 4 & an adoptive mom or 4.. yes, 8 total. We all share a parent/child bond)
