You remember the feeling of joy you got at school when you could drop the subjects you didn’t like? The bit you never contemplate about parenting is that you having to do those subjects ALL OVER AGAIN via your kid’s homework. Algebra and geography can absolutely do one 😆

All day I’ve heard a loud vibrating noise like a pneumatic drill that made my teeth hurt. I’ve looked everywhere for roadworks. Anyway, in a thrilling turn of events, turns out it was our boiler leaking gas. So that’s nice 😷

@AnnieMurray @DrJodieFisher Absolutely agree. Two key workers here (obvs!) and we’re keeping ours at home while running our own live lessons around them. School should be a last resort only. I’m not sure employers or some parents are getting that.

@DrJodieFisher 1st time around Richie was classed as a key worker - but we both worked from home and kept the kids with us (plus he is NOT a key worker!). This time there seems much more use for convenience - and LOTS more pressure from employers to use schools rather than furlough

Interesting read. I know parents pulling the key worker card because homeschooling/working is HARD. And I’ve heard of employers pressuring staff to claim key worker status at schools (@BootsUK and @marksandspencer 👀). Can’t imagine this pressure on schools is sustainable.

Hearing from more and more heads of soaring numbers of kids being dropped off for school. One primary in London that went from 12 kids in March lockdown to 56 now. A secondary in West Yorkshire that went from 30 in March to 150+ now.
