Did I do Bamberg right, @Julillla?
I also got a strawberry ice cream mit Pfeffer without realizing they were WHOLE PEPPERCORNS. That is a brilliant idea...but also quite something to have in a heat wave.

@ShriramKMurthi @stbrunthaler The quirkiest museum in Nürnberg is probably the Turm der Sinne (tourismus.nuernberg.de/en/discover/mu…)
Deutsch

@ShriramKMurthi @stbrunthaler If you happen to be in Nürnberg in late July, Klassik-Open Air is a really nice way of spending the evening klassikopenair.nuernberg.de
English

@ShriramKMurthi @stbrunthaler And while you're on the way, Bamberg is well worth a visit if you have time for an extra stop, though I may be biased because I went to university there. Just a uniquely well-preserved town that doesn't feel kitschy (have some Schlenkerla Rauchbier, while you're there)
English

@ShriramKMurthi @stbrunthaler On that note, just taking the train from Nürnberg to Erfurt is worth it. Used to be incredibly scenic and very slow (you can still get that experience if you take the regional trains), but as of 2018, you travel at 300 km/h between Bamberg and Erfurt.
English

@ShriramKMurthi @stbrunthaler If you haven't been already, don't skip the Deutsche Museum in Munich deutsches-museum.de All (?) of science and technology from physics to transportation (they have a few early computers as well), lots of hands-on demonstrations (e.g., a Faraday cage in action)
English

@ShriramKMurthi @wilton_quinn Guilty as charged -- I am rather partial to vehicles on rails and I bet Philippa Foot shared that sentiment

English

@wilton_quinn Are you part of Big Trolley, @Julillla ?

@avsm @ShriramKMurthi @ms705 .@ms705 does not enter any classroom (virtual or physical) without the support of his trusty Hagoromo Fulltouch

@justinesherry @SC_Griffith @heades @carnegielibrary @uwlibraries Oh I love a good Gothic revival reading room! Add dinosaurs to it and it's perfect?
English

@Julillla @SC_Griffith @heades @carnegielibrary Actually while we are on the topic of reading rooms nothing beats the @uwlibraries reading room

@ShriramKMurthi @anuragsaharoy Add liquorice and you can sell it at Whole Foods!

@anuragsaharoy Kräutertee is basically my leftover cooking water.

@tealeg @ShriramKMurthi @justinesherry @nikitab @KlugDaniel We like our humour to be dry, absurd, and produced by our former aristocracy (RIP Loriot). Puns other than those rooted in the beautiful subtleties of the German language are VERBOTEN!
English

@justinesherry @oatesmeal @HannahLebovits @caddington11 2) remind myself that students really do take on constructive feedback. I keep a mental list of students who really grew as writers and thinkers and whenever I feel like I want to cry over any particular essay I imagine that this student might end up on that list. :-)
English

@justinesherry @oatesmeal @HannahLebovits @caddington11 But it helps me to remind myself that 1) students are under pressure and may not spend as much time & effort as I would like. For writing assignments - unlike e.g. programming assignments - it's also easier to just send off the first draft. Not as obvious that it might be flawed.
