Keith Fletcher tried the patience of the crowd with the slowest first-class hundred by an Englishman as England crawled to 545 in 225.4 overs in reply to Pakistan's 600 for 7

Fifty years ago today one of the most tedious Tests I can recall ended with the finish of the 3rd Test between England and Pakistan at The Oval (1239 runs, 21 wickets, 421 overs). On the fourth day Dickie Bird had to have a curt word with Sarfraz after a beamer to Tony Greig

@MikeParcej Rosslare was an old royal navy training area that the RN used up I believe until around 1914, so this dates from around then and just before. It was a gunnery training area.

Presumably something war related by the beach in Rosslare?

A lovely afternoon at @NavanRacecourse , basically everything spot on perfect for us racing fans. A racecourse that keeps it simple...and it works. Perfect viewing no big screen needed, and a lovely atmosphere. Gold stars!!

@JakeRuss1000 Always appeared to be Buick's understudy with the boys in blue. Probably was wise to move away from the Godolphin role. He'll feel vindicated this week, you'd think.

@Independent_ie Did the money pass between the developer and the residents as the report doesn't make that entirely clear. Or were they halted in their tracks by media and then Garda attention before anything could occur?

@geoffbanksbet I was last there in 2013, which was my 4th Derby, and I watched with a large crowd for free on the Downs. This year, that area looked empty, all that's gone now. Feels like a rich part of social history has been consigned to the bin.

Tom Sammes, Epsom manager given fair opportunity in the racing post to discuss decline in attendance for the Derby He wouldn't get a job with me. He doesn't understand the customer experience Thousands forced to join lengthy queues to get in, to pass one sniffer dog A myopic focus on beer not the racing. That's a narrow customer audience No champagne bars in tatts. Removed Loads of police. Almost no children. Worst of all. Does Mr Sammes not understand the 50 or so ladies forced to queue for entirely in substantial toilet facilities on 'ladies day' as an appalling example of care?

@JeffwithaJnotaG @RacingPost And add in now the Aussies and Japs taking the better flat horses. Could you imagine what it would have been like without Coolmore, the rot would have sunk in even quicker.

@RacingPost Years of changes have ruined racing, Derby on a Saturday, 4 day watered down Chelt, good races disappearing, race meets moved to other courses and on and on, not to mention the terrible ITV coverage we now have to endure.

It's clear mainstream coverage of the Derby is lost at the weekend - so perhaps it's time to move it back to Wednesday Read with Members’ Club Ultimate 👇 racingpost.com/news/opinion/c…

@BenStarSports Yep, City of Troy was running for his life yesterday. Disaster and he'd be getting the Joe Pesci treatment in the very same film. (OK, not literally). He dodged a bullet alright. Now he could be one of the all time greats. Oh the margins.

@Sean__Dunne1 Watching it again, that could have easily been a disaster coming up the inside. To win like that after the potential trouble you thought he was in (out to 6 on Betfair for a few seconds), coupled with his 2yr old performances, that's potentially Sea The Stars/Frankel level.

⭐️ City Of Troy ⭐️ Everyone ruled him out after one run - Justify’s don’t train on - He is too small - it’s all hype. Plenty went wrong in running, but when he came into the straight, the turn of foot he showed and then power through the line Special 👏🏻

@jacktipspremium As my dear departed mother use to say, form is temporary, class is permanent. You know yourself, just keep doing what you always do and seek out the value. Looking forward to RA although the draw in the handicaps could be as challenging as last year.

@JonasLeng @BarstewardsThe We hear a lot about trainers having full race planning responsibilities but with AOB, he's been straight from the start. He and his team concentrate on the actual training leaving it up to the lads to decide targets. You need the right owners, but it's hard to argue against.
