WILD.
There was reportedly significant frustration in the USMNT camp among both players and staff after the Balogun controversy overshadowed the World Cup Round of 16 game against Belgium.
Per talkSPORT: "Multiple USMNT players,
preferring to remain anonymous to protect relationships, have told talkSPORT that Trump publicly confirming he had spoken to Infantino on July 6 caused more damage in their view than news of the original call itself. This came just a day before the game and was seen as unhelpful because it essentially aided Belgium's team talk."

🚨🇦🇷 𝗡𝗘𝗪: More and more Argentina fans are becoming convinced that something happened before the World Cup final because of the following events:
• Diego Simeone was in the stands for almost every Argentina match, but was absent for the final.
• Messi's family did not attend the final.
• Argentina kept winning the ball back, only to lose possession again almost immediately, something fans didn't see in the last 5 years.
• Lionel Scaloni's substitutions.
• Lautaro Martínez, who scored the winning goal vs England, did not play a single minute, not even when Spain took a 1-0 lead.
• Enzo Fernández was sent off after receiving two avoidable yellow cards.
• Argentina's President was expected to attend but never showed up.
• Cristian Romero did not shake hands with Donald Trump during the post-match ceremony.

@TaylorTwellman Gay, Golf would be 100x more interesting if the crowd could affect the game.

Missouri's Eli Drinkwitz says Big Ten's title run has unfair advantage because Big Ten schools not required to play a non-conference Power 4 opponent

I know you guys don’t have Messi at 0 attempted dribbles right? @StatsPerform he dribbled past Rodri and Ruiz to draw the foul, then did the same to Oryarzabal #worldcup

@poonindanoon @Home_of_Fight Volk, Charles and Max had all already absorbed years of damage. Volk was also coming bk from a KO loss. Paddy is young, his conditioning might be 2nd to none based on his 5rds with Justin. Simple logic bud
English

@JusAnothaCritiK @Home_of_Fight So Ilia stops Volk, Charles and Max in a row but Paddy is a no go? Wake up, recency bias is a real thing
English

😳 Paddy Pimblett says if Ilia Topuria wasn’t a quitter he would’ve stopped his cornerman from ending the fight with Gaethje
“If my coach says to me ‘we finish the fight’, I go no, ‘we FINISH the fight, we’re going out there, end of’.
We’re not bitches, we’re fighters.”

@poonindanoon @Home_of_Fight Gathje couldn’t take him out, what makes you think Ilia can? 🤣
English

@poonindanoon @Home_of_Fight It was actually the loss to Gathje that he gained his confidence. He’s earned the right to talk his shit
English

@Home_of_Fight I’m counting the days until Ilia cracks Paddy’s chin. This recent win ballooned his arrogance too far up.

@Blue_Footy He almost immediately replaced Gordon, if he wanted them to keep playing why take out one of the more dangerous players you have on the field?
English

Petr Cech on Tuchel’s decisions against Argentina:
🗣 "He definitely didn't want that style of play. Harry Kane himself admitted that the instructions from the bench were: 'You have to keep playing, stay active and score a second goal.' But the team didn't manage it. The coach then explained that when the team couldn't break free from the pressure, he added a defender, because Argentina were playing with four attackers.
He wanted to play with five at the back so they'd have the advantage defensively. But they couldn't step up out of the second line or put pressure on the ball, and in the end, that buried them. It looks strange when a team like England let themselves get pinned back like that. On the other hand, I think the players couldn't handle the weight of the moment and the closing stages of the match got away from them."

English

@piersmorgan As soon as he parked the bus and subbed out Gordon EVERYONE knew it was just a matter of time. He would’ve been heavily criticized even if they won the game
English

@TouchlineX He had to have watched the Egypt game no? Then attempted to do the same thing smdh

🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Jürgen Klopp on Tuchel's performance against Argentina:
"People always speak after the game like coaching is easy. Like you just choose attack or defend’and that’s it. It doesn’t work like this. Football is much more complex.
"I see the criticism of Tuchel for trying to defend the 1-0 against, but let me tell you something: if he didn’t do that, if he kept pushing forward and they conceded the same people would be saying, ‘Why didn’t he control the game? Why didn’t he defend the lead?’
"In knockout football, whatever decision you make, someone will criticise you. I’m not saying every decision is perfect, but you have to understand the logic behind it.
"Managing a game at that stage is never simple."

English

@SkySportsNews You were being criticized well before the game was over bud

@arsenal_brasuca Kane & Jude are the ones out of position, they should be hovering at the top of the box.
