Warner Bros. spent $1.2 billion to make all eight Harry Potter films. The new TV series reportedly costs $100 million per episode, which would make it the most expensive TV show ever produced. Amazon’s Rings of Power cost $58 million per episode. House of the Dragon, $20 million. Game of Thrones started at $6 million. HBO has planned seven seasons, one for each book, eight episodes per season. That’s 56 episodes. If the per-episode budget holds, the total production cost lands around $5.6 billion. Nearly 5x what all eight original films cost to make, and roughly three-quarters of what the entire franchise has earned at the box office ($7.7 billion) across 25 years. Three weeks ago, Paramount Skydance signed a deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery for $31 per share, valuing the company at $110 billion including debt. Netflix was bidding too but walked away in late February. Harry Potter sits next to Game of Thrones and the DC Universe as one of the most valuable assets in that deal. WBD has about 132 million Max subscribers today and is projecting 150 million by December. The original films returned almost 7x their production budget at the box office. Generating that kind of return through monthly streaming subscriptions requires a completely different scale of audience, sustained over a decade. They’re reportedly building a “mini city” in the UK specifically for filming, with a price tag around $1.3 billion. A school is being constructed on-site for the child actors. Hans Zimmer is scoring the series. Over 30,000 kids auditioned for three roles. The average Harry Potter film cost $144 million to produce. A single episode of the new series reportedly costs $100 million. Warner Bros. is betting over $5 billion that a streaming franchise can match what a theatrical one did.

@glindaupland regular people enjoy the series. They don't care about or know what JK says on Twitter ( mostly posts about protecting girls/women ). Go to universal studios, the Wizarding World section is always packed.

it’s a shame that j.k. rowling ruined the harry potter legacy because all of the money and time spent on this series will go to waste now that nobody is watching it

@paidesimers @PopBase It all depends on the performance. If paapa was the best actor the casting directors saw, I'll trust their decision unless proven otherwise. No one can replace Allen Rickman so, I can see them going in a different direction with Snape as a character.

@PopBase What's the point of getting 99% of the cast right if they just messed up the most beloved character? It's going to flop so badly, it's a shame. They had everything to be the most amazing series of the century.

Assuming each episode is an hour, that's 8 episodes. The book is roughly that long on Audible. These are confirmed by WB

@labadfwu @DiscussingFilm The other issue not to the films fault is that thet were being made alongside the books so, they didn't have the foresight if X character would be important later on. Now with the TV series, they have all of the information from the 7 books so, they can cast roles early.

@labadfwu @DiscussingFilm A tv series has more time to tell the story from the books more accurately and with context. The movies after the first two ( since the first two were mostly accurate 80-90% ) were basically summaries in an 1hour:30min-3 hour format. Watching Deathly Hallows and Reading it was 🤯

@Glassdoorgamer It depends on what the main output is. If all you do is game than sure a console is a great option but, if have any other creative outlet such as video editing, photoshop, 3d printing/design, etc. it is convenient to game on the same machine you work from.

@TTomcat98632 @AnAverageGamerX There’s some games where switch 2 either matches or outperforms ( which I believe is the case for Resident Evil 9, I know it’s not open world ) the Xbox series S. If the series S is getting GTA, it should be automatic that Switch 2 would even if it’s not releasing same day.

@AnAverageGamerX The Switch2 simply CANT handle it face it. It's old technology hardware. It's basically as powerful as a PS4. Even Rockstar said it's not going to PS4 because they want to focus on Next Gen only. And the Switch2 is Last gen hardware

The reason why some people don’t want this game on Switch 2 is because they’re treating it like a PS-pseudo exclusive. Since the PS crowd doesn’t see Xbox as a threat anymore, they’re trying to hold onto anything they can see as “theirs.”

@Brettdasovic I’m never going to say no to extra lore. As long as the writers and directors aren’t removing stuff from the books in order to do so, I’m all in. The last of us on HBO was great because it went all in with providing fans of the games with extra content.

@Brettdasovic The first two books aren’t long enough to have 8 hours of television for seasons 1/2. It’s a wonderful idea to make the wizarding world more alive with some side plots and story lines we never saw in depth. For starters, how did Dumbledore arrange to hide the stone for Flamel?

4,000 pages of story and they are going off on side missions that didn't even appear in the books. 😂😭
