Shonda Rhimes actually put her name on it, and made history while doing it. With a $15 million gift to Dartmouth College, Shonda Rhimes will have a new residence hall named in her honor, becoming the first Black person and the first woman to receive that recognition on campus. This is more than a building, it’s a statement about access, representation, and what it looks like to invest in the next generation.

Abdullah Ibrahim’s final performances with the original Jazz Epistles members Hugh Masekela and Jonas Gwangwa at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, South Africa. Taking the stage together for the first time in over 50 years, Abdullah Ibrahim on piano, Hugh Masekela on trumpet, and Jonas Gwangwa on trombone transported the audience on a nostalgic journey as they reflected on their life’s work throughout the evening on June 16, 2016. The South African jazz legend Abdullah Ibrahim, aged 91, will headline the 2026 Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) on March 27–28 at the CTICC. His highly anticipated performance will be on the intimate Rosie's stage, where he will showcase his signature blend of Cape jazz, gospel, and African idioms. It’s a full-circle moment as Ibrahim, born in District Six and exiled during apartheid, returns to this festival. This particular image of Abdullah Ibrahim is currently on display at The Youngblood Gallery in Cape Town. The Jazz Legacy Collection offers an intimate visual journey into the soul of South African jazz—having opened on March 5, 2026, and running until March 30. The exhibition serves as a grand prelude to the CTIJF week (March 23–29), celebrating captured moments of South African Jazz Giants.

This morning’s AFT Pupillage Session was both insightful and encouraging. The session highlighted the important role that the AFT plays in supporting pupils through initiatives focused on academic support, court attendance, and creating safe and accountable spaces within the profession. It was inspiring to see the many structures AFT has put in place to guide and support pupils during what is both a demanding and rewarding journey. Thank you to all the speakers for sharing their time, knowledge, and commitment to the development of the next generation of advocates. #AdvocatesForTransformation #PupillageJourney #YoungBar #LegalCommunity
