Quick 🧵 For MLB SPs: Throwing harder is better than throwing softer. Elite movement is great. Elite control is great. But if you study MLB SP success over the past 15 years, it's clear how important velocity is. It's correlated with better results and longevity.

Here's how MLB hitters fare against fastballs in different velo buckets. We're not looking at location, movement or anything else. Notice a linear trend?
