Patients - adults and children alike - with rare and complex diseases are being failed by this province. Access to treatment, access to skilled, timely specialist care, compassion, and quality of care is so poor. People of all ages are suffering severe and deadly medical neglect, and things desperately need to change. We pay for this system to TAKE CARE of us. The amount of times I needed medical attention and have doctors actually question whether or not I have had a hysterectomy as if I would make it the fuck up is unreal. Like truly will still make me run a pregnancy test. Even with urgent medical needs. Even as I say NO UTERUS

@firedpatients That surgeon literally refused to admit I had crippling endometriosis until he cut it out of me. I had a diagnosis from two other specialists including his boss. He's only interested in patients who want to maintain fertility.

Y’all, I know people are desperate, I am too, but people have got to stop recommending random drugs-du-jour (especially buying them online/overseas) to people whose medical conditions and histories you do not even know in depth. Holy crap is anyone else in Vancouver’s hayfever absolutely raging? My throat is so itchy I want to rip it out of my own body. I’ve had this for years when the grass pollen is bad (except for the 6 summers of reprieve while on IVIG), but this might be the worst it’s ever been. 😭

@arianek My case is ridiculous, I had a fall and was told to self monitor and go to the ER "if I showed concussion symptoms" then for nine years nobody tested to see if I was concussed, including a neurologist. Concussed people, it turns out, aren't good at self assessing.

@Just_Eva Goodness, nine years. 🫠 It should not be this hard! I often think of how much faster I may have been able to get care for many things if we could just self refer here. The gatekeeping of referrals by GPs, who often don’t even understand our conditions, is a huge problem.

Canada, I love you and visit you often 🇨🇦, but.... what's up with your non-existent care for patients with #autonomic disorders? If you think things are bad in the US, it's nothing compared to what my Canadian patients are going through, especially if they live up North or West Coast of Canada.
