Reminder that ICE is still detaining a disabled double amputee named Rodney Taylor. He was grabbed in Jan 2025. Denied access to his prosthetic legs. Forced to crawl across dirty floors. Put in solitary. His health is rapidly declining. Make noise for Rodney.

24-year-old Hunter Adkins, who lived with muscular dystrophy, died after a fall while being assisted onto an Allegiant Air flight. A lawsuit alleges he was placed in a wheelchair without safety straps while boarding was rushed. What happened to Hunter raises serious concerns about how passengers with disabilities are treated when it matters most. people.com/man-fatally-fa…

Thousands forced to evacuate on Oʻahu. Homes, businesses, medical patients needing electricity to stay alive. Hawaii’s Dole Plantation owns a dam that needed to be repaired. $20M to fix it. But Dole said it couldn’t afford repairs, while paying $92.4M in dividends since 2023.

Her name is Daphy Michel. She was a beloved sister and Haitian asylum seeker living and working in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Daphy was arrested after experiencing a serious mental health episode and sat in jail for nearly six months awaiting an evaluation that never materialized. A judge dismissed the charges, but ICE intercepted Michel’s release, took her into custody, and put an ankle monitor on her. They let her go and dropped her off miles away from her home without notifying family; she was later found dead at a bus shelter in Pittsburgh. Daphy Michel died alone due to the negligence of ICE.

Haitian immigrant last seen in ICE custody—found dead on the street 3 days later. Agents drove her 1 hour away from home for processing—then released without notifying her family. Her body was found near a bus stop. Police say she had "significant mental health episode" that landed her in county jail. But ICE picked her up after judge dismissed all charges and drove her 1 hour away to Pittsburgh. "Told her brother charges were dismissed on Thursday. She doesn't come out on Friday. He gets a call on Monday that she's dead," lawyer explained. "It seems perfectly reasonable if you're going to take someone all the way up here and that far out of their element—you could just as easily have driven them back." Daphy Michel, only 31 years old, was living and working in Penny under Temporary Protected Status as a Haitian refugee.

Going to make this point very carefully, hopefully. Black people do not need to educate themselves on TS before they're allowed to feel hurt by this AND AT THE SAME TIME do not need to justify feeling hurt by this with misinformation about TS.

Ngl a lot of people's reactions to this are just confirming my feelings of isolation and anxiety as a Black person who has been advocating for Tourette's and ME, two extremely stigmatized disabilities, for years and has been constantly harassed and dogpiled with no defense.

Another person with a disability grabbed by ICE… this time while headed to pick up seizure and anxiety medication. She’s being detained and her family have no way to know whether she’s getting her medication. Suddenly stopping many of these meds can be deadly.

Nasra Ahmed, 23, was stopped by ICE in St. Paul while heading to pick up seizure and anxiety medication. She told agents she’s a U.S. citizen born in Hennepin County, but was detained anyway and is now jailed without bail as her family fears for her health. twincities.com/2026/01/16/fam…

She is pleading with them: “I’m disabled! I have a brain injury! Put me down!” She was on her way to a traumatic brain injury Center when they grabbed her and threw her in detention. She requested a doctor, was denied and lost consciousness. Utterly inhumane.
