Hey @tesla & @elonmusk. Those of us who paid $8,000+ for FSD took a big leap early on. A one-time FSD transfer for the life of the car would go a long way. 🙏🏻

@AIDRIVR 100% agreed. If you already bought it and firmly “in the boat” - it would be really cool to keep it and also serves as even more Tesla brand stickiness to keep us FSD owners to continue trading up into newer models for life.

called it - just 1.5 years early I still stand by my belief that outright FSD buyers should have a permanent transfer option some paid ~15 years worth of subscription on HW3 vehicles. they’re the ones who paved the way for what FSD is today

@elonmusk Please consider allowing early adopters who purchased FSD (even before it worked) to continue “owning” it. Happy to do so with the condition that I trade-in for a new model every 4ish years. That’s what I’ve been doing and honestly, I planned to do this for decades to come.

Tesla will stop selling FSD after Feb 14. FSD will only be available as a monthly subscription thereafter.

@elonmusk Early FSD buyers like @justinbrooks believed in the vision from day one — paid full price when it barely worked, kept trading in to stay on latest hardware, and planned to stay Tesla customers for life. A simple grandfather clause letting existing lifetime owners keep transferring (or a permanent account-bound license) would be huge for loyalty. Many of us would happily keep upgrading forever if that stays intact. 🚀

But considering us early adopters are essentially Tesla’s entire marketing strategy - it feels punitive to take away this FSD “ownership” the moment we inevitably want to trade-in to a newer model.

@Skate_a_book @BYUProvo @Manhattva I actually agree. I bought it in 2019 when it didn’t even work yet. Moving goal posts sucks. I bought it with expectation to keep it as long as stayed loyal. And I’ve taken advantage of trade-in windows whereby I also rollled over my “owned” FSD.

Been using FSD from close to the start and used the current versions in January’s free trial No, I would not pay $99 a month for it and I drive 20,000-35,000 miles a year.

@zrottmann @elonmusk @Tesla Still available until 2/15. But the implication is that you won’t be offered any future “free transfer” windows/promotions moving forward to get you to trade into a new model/hardware. Instead - you’ll have to become a subscriber at that point. No more “owning” FSD.

@SawyerMerritt @SawyerMerritt and @elonmusk it would be awesome if Tesla still opened occasional windows for everyone that bought it early to continue trading in/up into newer models so they can continue keeping their owned FSD. Really great reward for early adopters - and retention.

@SawyerMerritt This was my exact thought. I bought FSD back in April of 2019 (before it even actually worked). And most recently took advantage of their occasional trade-up promo last August to get a new model and receive “free” transfer of my FSD. I’d like to keep doing this trade up promo

I'm curious what this means for everyone who has already purchased FSD outright and wants to buy another Tesla in the future. Can they still transfer FSD? Will they get some sort of credits instead?
