Copy‑pasting a strength program template doesn’t: •match your athletes’ developmental stage 🧒➡️🏋️‍♂️ •fit your school’s equipment 🏗️❌ •align with your schedule 📅⚠️ •address your unique situation 🎯🚫 Comment “Install”. If you want a template that is built for your needs.

@JustinGoffBurch Likewise. Before school, during school, and after school. It's the grind!!! I push my interns to get licensure before they graduate if possible. In Ohio, We currently have a dual PE/Ex science degree path in the works . Fingers crossed it gets approved.

Your PE licensure isn't a strength coach credential, because 75% of PE teachers serving in strength roles average a 45% score on a validated S&C knowledge assessment. That's not an opinion. That's Kern et al., 2024.

@Coachjgpatrick Thanks Coach. As I’m working on my PhD I’ve been obsessing in my research with this PE and S&C gap. My hope is with the course I built and my PhD research and dissertation to be apart of closing that gap.

@JustinGoffBurch as some good message for the hiring of qualified S&C professionals. I wouldn’t let a dentist perform ACL surgery on me. Qualified professionals know when/how to gain education and how to stay in their scope of practice.

@CoachLamboCSCS Yep. That’s kinda actually where I sit professionally. 3 years of full time S&C before getting to a high school and getting my PE license so that I can be full time in the school teaching S&C based PE classes.

@JustinGoffBurch 100%.. Gap is real. Experience is best. Consistent coaching reps with differentiated populations builds the coach. With the right background and depending on the state, PE license plus S&C experience is the big win. Cert is a bonus on top. More students reached, more doors open.

@830finestt @tperrytraining Exactly. In the high school environment, it’s rare for a PE teacher to get to learn from a mentor in S&C. That’s why I built the skool community, to get mentorship allbeit virtually, and the course to teach and apply.

@JustinGoffBurch @tperrytraining I learned a lot from a S&C master who didn’t have PE license… 🪪 He taught me crucial knowledge I wouldn’t have learned without going through the process with him. Courses are great but doing the work is game changing

@JustinGoffBurch I think more important than a certification or a course is a mentorship under a master S&C coach. I easily passed the big certifications, but most valuable thing for me was working under coaches at three different universities.

@CoachHudson7 @TrojanStrength Yes! The HSSCC is a solid foundation for coaches looking to build their baseline. I actually built a PD course designed to close the gap for PE teachers in the weight room, going deeper on the practical, day-to-day systems you need in a high school environment

Every student athlete who walks into a high school weight room deserves programming that develops every physical quality they need, every week of the year, delivered by a someone who has been genuinely equipped to provide it. Right now, most aren't getting that. That's the gap.

“Your PE licensure isn’t a strength coach credential” isn’t said by me to be mean. It’s about the fact that PE teacher prep doesn’t teach how to be a strength coach. There is a gap. That gap is a problem high school strength systems solves.

@DillonMartinez This was especially key for our two way guys, who in the past we’ve had problems with conditioning and cramping. Last year we didn’t face that with our two ways.

@DillonMartinez Love this. I do have an example. Last year our catapult distance and sprint speed numbers weren’t close to game speed and distance for our football team. So we added a Monday and Tuesday sprint practice periods to increase distance and hitting high speeds more than just game day.

Coaches are obsessed with wearables to collect data in 2026. ACSM has it as the #1 trend this year. GPS, force plates, velocity trackers all leading to a mountain of data. But I have yet to see a post saying "the numbers were looking off, so here is how I changed in my program" It seems like many coaches just use the data to affirm their program rather than to make meaningful changes and improvements.

@DillonMartinez But I couldn’t agree more with this sentiment. What’s the point of data if all you do is collect it??

When a PE teacher is asked to run S&C without preparation, they do what anyone would do: they fall back on what they know. What their HS or college coach did. That’ssurvival. The solution is not blaming teachers. It is building the systems that actually prepare them for the role.
