Over the last few days, I’ve been processing the results of a case study I just finished on the decline of @MLB starting pitchers. I made this video to speak directly to pitchers, especially aspiring professional pitchers, because you deserve to hear this. Case study: Top 3 pitchers drafted/signed each year since 2013 (all 30 orgs). In-org only (stop tracking once they leave). • 1,134 pitchers | $1.27B bonuses • 25.7% reached MLB (with drafting org) • 6.4% reached 200+ MLB IP • 38% arm injury | 28% major The Top High School pitching prospects in this study undergo a major arm injury after just 159 professional innings.

Today is the @uspbl All-Star Game! Congratulations to all of the players who earned the opportunity to participate in today’s event. It should be a great day at UWM Field, featuring our skills competition, Home Run Derby, and All-Star Game. I also wanted to take a moment to provide a quick midseason update on our league and our players. There has been a lot of progress, energy, and momentum across the USPBL, and today is a great opportunity to celebrate the players who have earned this recognition. We hope to see you today at UWM Field!

In May, our focus was improving shoulder function and establishing a healthier foundation for @uspbl pitchers. In June, the goal was to sustain that new floor and begin raising the energy of the delivery. Since May 15, league-wide average fastball velocity has increased from 88.77 to 89.37 mph across 40 pitchers. Velocity is not the starting point. It is the byproduct of health, function, sequencing, timing, and energy. It can work in that order, and we don't have to sacrifice arm health for performance.

Congrats to @uspbl pitcher David Craig on his work and dedication to his craft this season. He's taking ownership of his process, and the results are proving it's working. #WhosNext

It’s happening. Five weeks into the @uspbl season, a handful of pitchers are beginning to separate themselves as the next legitimate pitching prospects in our league. And this has not happened by chance. It is easy to look at a good month of statistics and assume the player has simply “gotten hot.” But real progress is usually born long before the numbers arrive. It begins quietly — in the willingness to take an honest look at where you are, and then make the deliberate choice to move toward where you are capable of going. We account for the player first, their health and function, before we hit the gas on asking them to do more. But once they are ready, we go. Congratulations to these players. I’m proud of their effort and their willingness to grow.

As we enter Week 4 of the @uspbl regular season, we will begin filming all pitchers in the bullpen before their game appearances or starts. During the first week of the season, we met with each pitching staff as a team and individually reviewed every pitcher’s initial DVS Score. The goal was to create a clear starting point, explain the development process, and help each pitcher understand where they are coming into the season. Over the last two weeks, pitchers have begun adjusting their throwing programs based on recovery patterns, workloads, and role-specific demands. They have also started implementing delivery-specific movement patterns designed to improve efficiency and help them work toward being more “on time” in their delivery. Our most recent shoulder range-of-motion data now gives us a better understanding of when and how much we can begin to push conversations around tempo, energy, and raising the floor of performance for select pitchers. Throughout a typical USPBL Powered By Mortgage Matchup season, we schedule 4 to 6 filming windows to track changes in pitching delivery. This week marks the second round of DVS Scores and will serve as an important benchmark of progress for our pitchers. The DVS Score allows us to track changes in delivery efficiency alongside shoulder health, game data, pitch metrics, and workload. When combined, this information gives each pitcher a clearer picture of how they are progressing and what adjustments are needed next. #BuiltToLast

One of our biggest offseason goals was to build a stronger foundation for @uspbl data operations and streamline the delivery of our player development reports. That goal is now a reality, and it represents a major step forward in our ability to support USPBL players, increase visibility, and help them advance their careers. There have been a lot of people involved in making this process possible. I want to thank Devin Wiles and Arjun Darbha for their collaboration and commitment to bringing this vision to life for the USPBL. #WHOSNEXT

In 2016, Will Fox and I took a simple approach with USPBL pitchers: Establish a baseline. Build a process. Watch the trends. We are building that foundation again. From May 4-12, we established baseline shoulder ROM. On May 13, we began integrating @DVSbaseball AC Bands. Follow-up testing began May 17. The goal was not to prove a product. The goal was to measure a process. DVS AC Bands are different because they are not designed simply to stretch the arm. They help pitchers develop strength and control at the end ranges of motion. Early trends: D TAM increased from 148.48° to 152.88° 24 of 32 pitchers improved TAM Diff improved from 0.67° to 5.29° 25 of 32 improved D Flex increased from 81.04° to 83.95° 27 of 32 improved Development is not guessing. It is establishing a baseline, implementing a process, measuring the response, and continuing to adjust. Built to Last.
