@martynsibley @Hilton They’re no better in the US and this is part of a reason I don't travel anymore. I call ahead and ask if the bed is open underneath but they never know the answer or understand why I'm asking. Often I'll look for a room with a sofa bed but even those aren’t accessible sometimes!

Stayed at the @Hilton before speaking on hotel accessibility the next morning.
Even with my own hoist, the bed hadn’t been raised as requested and the “accessible” room didn't have a level access shower.
More proof we still have work to do. Big hoist hotel news next week 👀

@bobbygenebussel @Acyn Without these types of programs I probably would have died years ago in some nursing home. Being cared for people who actually care gives you better outcomes for health and happiness but they don't want that they want us dead so there is more money to steal.

These idiots! I’m a caregiver to my mom and get paid through IHSS and I can assure you you don’t get paid to just carry groceries it’s very hard to get approved and then the hours are basically nothing unless your loved one is totally bed ridden. Fuck these guys she would have to be in a home if not this program

OZ: New York—the number one job in the entire state is personal care services. Almost half a million people in that state are being paid to carry groceries upstairs for their parents or for their neighbor. These are jobs your family would do for you. That creates jobs in a state that's losing jobs.
Here's what's bothering me, they are starting to unionize these workers.
