Paul Renner is a hard no for me. He was part of these shenanigans when he was Speaker and he fully supports “Free Kill”. Governor DeSantis loyalty is to political donors, lobbyists, and special interests, not the people of Florida. He is notorious for deciding his next publicity stunt, engaging in executive overreach to make the legislature figure out how to make his ideas come to fruition, then blaming the House for his unsubstantiated or unconstitutional ideas not coming to pass. My daughter was killed in an Orlando hospital by reckless negligence bordering on manslaughter after she was rear ended at a red light in 2023. I’ve been fighting to end “Free Kill” ever since. In 2025, ninety-three percent of the Florida legislature voted to end a law that only exists in Florida: “Free Kill”. Governor DeSantis held a veto press conference at a hospital with lobbyists present and vetoed the repeal. Hospitals and insurance are some of his largest donors.
