Looking for a “power generator”/“solar generator” unit. Would like at least 1000wh, ability to expand with an additional battery, and above all else, GREAT RFI performance.
Any recommendations? I’m sure many of these are noisy as all heck.

She doesn’t mind, but isn’t much interested in it. My son has, at times, expressed some interest. It’s a weird hobby, tbh, and people are drawn to it or not—all good either way. :)

You can load a huge GPS-based list of repeaters for an area or area areas into the radio. I think it’s 1000 repeaters you can add then the radio, which has GPS built-in, will search for repeaters in proximity of your location. Beautiful!

@K5PO I’ll have to watch your video when I get home from work. Not familiar with a GPS search feature. But sounds like it would be useful on long road trips (like APRS Voice Alert was intended to be, but never really became)

Trying to decide what rig to install in my new-to-me diesel truck.
Which FM digital mode should I use? I'll be living in AK. So most of my use will be up there. But roughly once per year, I'll be in the lesser 48 with the rig.

@N3QEH The icoms don’t have C4FM, but the GPS search is more important imo

@N3QEH C4FM is the only one that sounds half decent. But you’ll find yourself using FM anyway. I recommend the ID-5100 or new 5200 for this reason.
