@abcampbell It will keep changing as it always has. When I first went there were already people lamenting the death of Burning Man. Get over yourself. It will end when it ends. Not because any one of us proclaimed it's death

@abcampbell Burner since 1997. You are literally an echo of all the self absorbed dumbasses that think they know better than everyone else throughout the years. There's a million ways in which I personally feel BM has changed for the worse over the years. But it's CHANGE. It keeps changing.

**Burning Man is Dead** (Disclaimer: Burner since 2012. Ran an Esplanade camp for a decade.) I left Thursday morning. I may never return. Not because of the rain. Not because I had a bad time, it was fine. But because what I witnessed was the dying ember of something magnificent, casting shadows of what it once was. A hallow echo. What once represented an infinite space of possibility, a seemingly endless playground, has completed its transformation into a simacralum of an alternative lifestyle that may no longer truly exist. A theme park selling the memory of dusty rebellion to tourists who mistake consumption for creation. The symptoms are everywhere: Starlink satellites beaming influencer Instagram content from the dust. Endless streams of euros on pristine bikes attached to $300K RVs. Identical outfits, on identical hairdos, where once there was a unique expression of individualism. Tech bros networking between fundraising dinners while cosplaying counterculture. Blame the abundance of *bars*, asking you to validate them with your inebriation. Fighting with the art *cars*, vomiting their lights across the once starry night. “No lasers pointers”, they say at the gate, that is unless they come with a vehicle pass and paint the moon with their concentrated beams. BMOrg, drunk on control but paralyzed by a little weather. “Build week” passes prioritizing mega legacy turnkey camps over the artists and builders who once made structures. When was the last time anyone built anything to *climb* on? 2018? But mostly, blame us. We killed it together. Core burners aged out, traded dust for summer homes, replaced by "virgins" seeking to buy what can only be built. Cultural entropy dressed as growth. Burning Man didn't die from any single wound. It died the way all beautiful things die, slowly, then all at once, from the weight of its own success. Don't blame anyone. Blame time.
