@heymrsbond Did a week of physical annotations as we’re reading Douglass. First I let them freely annotate, then I gave them a guide, and then they annotated again as a whole group. Discussions vastly improved!

@heymrsbond I wish I would’ve known how logistical the job was ( attendance, grades, planning trips and lessons, etc.) Crucial information: the journey towards getting more than one certification and/or lateral moves in promoting oneself.

Lastly, all this energy that folks have on what makes a good or bad teacher but get SUPER defensive when teachers speak on what makes good or bad parenting? Cuz why is your child in anybody’s head? ON OR OFF camera? Your slips are showing.

I’ve equally learned about the self righteousness of “good” teachers as I’ve learned about the inappropriate behaviors of budding teachers this weekend. A lot of us haven’t been fired because of our moments, past or present, haven’t made it to the Internet.

@heymrsbond Seeing it in middle school too ( I teach 8th). I’m frustrated and disappointed because I saw so much growth when I taught 7th.

Ok so my real birthday post. I am grateful for 40 years. The last couple years have been a journey of self-discovery and learning to love myself. So my prayer for this year and going forward is for the bravery to walk with new confidence in what I’ve learned.
