Matthew Carey’s total of 0-5-5 (15) CS Carlow today makes him Longford’s biggest scorer in an individual game in SFC history (1903-2025) overtaking the previous biggest (2-6) for Longford by Brian Kavanagh back in 2007.
@WesternPeople Distance is always an issue in Mayo and he makes a great point about the distance to Bohola from Belmullet , Louis burgh etc and then advocates an anchor tenant relationship in Bekan which is 130k from Belmullet.
With claims of sub-standard GAA facilities in Co Mayo, it's important the remedy is the right one and not just the convenient one, writes Anthony Hennigan

A great 1st night of our Born 2018 @GoGamesGAA blitzes where all games were played between 3 & 5 a side. Lots of 🕰️ on the ball, 🪐space to play in & loads of touches 🙌. Kids & parents loved it & easier for coaches to manage so wins all round. Thanks to coordinators @GPOAaronMcD@JackM_PO@KCGPO1 & Paddy @gaaleinster Roll on blitz 2 next month 🥳
@jim_demps If Mayo were the beneficiary of the greatest academy system in sport ie Leinster schools, if they were facilitated by the GAA to the detriment of other counties, if they could buy Con O Callaghan and David Clifford to get them over the line, then yeah. Otherwise, Pure dung Tony.
Dunno if the rumours are true or not but apparently the bus driver never turned down the radio when the Leinster team were passing a funeral in Fanagans on their way to Donnybrook for the trophy homecoming in 2018
@RTEOne@KatieGHannon@rtenews 23% seems very high. At what percentage does it stop being a condition and become just the human condition? To paraphrase Mr Incredible- when everybody's special then nobody is.
"Diagnosis if done well can be really good"
Professor Brendan Kelly gives @KatieGHannon his thoughts on a study from the US that says 23 per cent of 17-year-old schoolboys have been diagnosed with ADHD #RTÉUpfront

Oh and one more thing. A substantial majority of people in the country were without power, heat, or any kind of phone or broadband for the last few days and yet my timeline is full of media types crying about the 46A 🚌 Perspective.
The lads sitting around the cabinet table need to *really* pay attention to rural Ireland over the next few weeks. You can’t continue to push policies upon the very people who can least afford them without at least pretending to invest in infrastructure and maintenance.

@adrianmcpartlnd No just in general it is something that has been happening for years and I don't like it if lads are on sigerson panels they played sigerson end . Set a window as I said so every intercounty players know only ones who have right to miss sigerson would be lads involved in club
It time for gaa to sigerson there own window so all the sigerson teams can have there full squads without intercounty manger and players themselves pulling them selves from sigerson panels . Simple fix give sigerson there own window where players cannot be touched in that period
Well done to our Senior Mens Goalkeeper Rhys Henry, who has been selected on the @ATU_SligoGAA Panel for the upcoming Sigerson Cup, which is due to start on the 7th of January. ATU have been drawn at home to Ulster University in the first round with a throw in time of 7pm.
Things I didn't expect to be doing in 2024 ... Sharing shelf-space with @JohnnySexton and the front window of the bookshop with Johnny and Sally Rooney! Séimí doesn't look overly amazed though!
Book Stand in Castlebar. Signed copies inside.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange walked free from a court on the US Pacific island territory of Saipan after pleading guilty to violating US espionage law, in a deal that allowed him to head straight home to Australia reut.rs/4cgFeVJ
